New opportunities - new challenges

On June 21, 2025, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day, an occasion to honor journalists in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. 2025 also marks an important milestone in the history of revolutionary journalism in Hung Yen province in particular and the whole country in general: the merger of Hung Yen Radio and Television Station into Hung Yen Newspaper to form Hung Yen Newspaper.

As a reader and long-time contributor to Hung Yen Newspaper, I, like everyone else, recognize the immense importance of this merger in streamlining the organizational structure, improving the efficiency of the provincial press agency, and better meeting the information and propaganda needs in the new situation of the country.

Hung Yen Newspaper is not only a mouthpiece for disseminating the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State, but also a newspaper that helps readers regularly update themselves on cultural, political , and current affairs information from the localities in an accurate and comprehensive manner.

Since 2025, the Hung Yen Weekend newspaper has been publishing poetry, short stories, essays, etc., attracting many contributors, including writers and poets from within and outside the province. What is particularly commendable about the Hung Yen Newspaper is its timely and thoughtful payment of royalties and complimentary copies, which is a great source of encouragement for its contributors. Many contributors have been associated with the newspaper for decades. The greatest happiness for these contributors is receiving a copy of the newspaper containing their work. We cherish the newspaper like a treasure, our hearts overflowing with emotion and indescribable joy…

In the current era of innovation, Hung Yen Newspaper, like Vietnamese journalism in general, has many opportunities but also faces challenges in adjusting its organization, personnel, and content, especially with the explosion of the internet, social media, and digital media, which have changed the way a large segment of the public receives information. The proliferation of fake news and the rapid spread of misinformation on social media have left many readers disoriented, confused, or lacking faith in society. This situation demands that journalists possess high professional skills, ethical standards, and the ability to objectively analyze and evaluate information to promptly meet the needs of readers. Contributors need to promptly reflect accurate information, demonstrate courage in combating negativity, and protect the interests of the country and its people through their writings.

As a contributor to Hung Yen Newspaper, and in my role as a writer, I feel a great need to innovate my creative thinking, constantly learn and improve my skills in applying modern technology to attract readers, while simultaneously enhancing the quality of information, ensuring accuracy, objectivity, and timeliness, expanding my influence and interaction with readers through my works.

Having been associated with Hung Yen Newspaper for several decades, I realize that it is fertile ground for nurturing creative passions, a cradle for cultivating the creative souls of many writers, poets, and contributors. Hung Yen Newspaper truly serves as a cultural bridge, allowing writers to convey messages of love and responsibility towards their homeland, country, and society to a wide readership.
