K CANNOT BE MORE GREAT
The old record of 13 consecutive wins since the start of the season, set by AC Milan in the 1992-1993 season, has long been broken. Last weekend, Bayern raised their own record to 15. But coach Vincent Kompany still did not feel satisfied when he declared: "We will continue to try, winning 15 consecutive matches is not enough."

Who did Bayern beat in the last round, and how? It was Bayer Leverkusen - the 2024 Bundesliga champions. That is an opponent that Bayern has never beaten in the last 5 Bundesliga clashes. More importantly, Bayern rotated their squad, only fielding a "B team" because they had to prepare for the big match with reigning champions PSG in the Champions League this midweek. Yet Bayern sealed the score 3-0 in the first half!
In total, Bayern have won all 9 Bundesliga matches, 3 Champions League matches, 2 German Cup matches and the German Super Cup match this season. In the two main arenas of Bundesliga and Champions League alone, Bayern have scored 45 goals and conceded only 6 goals in 12 matches - an average of nearly 4 goals per match. Mr. Kompany's team has always been the team to open the score in all 12 of those matches.
People often underestimate Bayern's winning streak based on the argument that the Bundesliga is not a very fierce tournament, most of the opponents are at a lower level than Bayern. But in the last 9 rounds, Bayern has won all 3 remaining Bundesliga representatives in the Champions League including: Borussia Dortmund, Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt. With Leverkusen and Frankfurt, the score is 3-0. In addition, the Bundesliga also has another strong team that regularly participates in the Champions League in recent seasons: RB Leipzig, currently in second place. Bayern beat this opponent 6-0 in the first round.
Still need to verify Bayern's strength? Neutral observers will not have to wait long as Kompany's team will visit PSG in the middle of this week, then visit Arsenal in the next series of matches.
K OMPANY IS AFFIRMING ITSELF
The race in the Bundesliga is considered out of the question. But coach Kompany himself is considered... Bayern's big weakness in the race in the Champions League. Over the past 4 seasons, the Champions League title has always belonged to veteran coaches who have won it before (Luis Enrique with PSG, Pep Guardiola with Man.City, Carlo Ancelotti twice with Real Madrid).
When leading Chelsea (in 2021) or Liverpool (in 2019) to the championship, coaches Thomas Tuchel or Juergen Klopp also had experience in leading the team in the previous final match. In short, in the last 9 seasons, up to 8 times the championship belonged to the team of the coach who won the championship or led the team in the final match in this arena.
Coach Kompany has never been to a Champions League final, so he lacks experience in the world's most prestigious club tournament? Of course, this is just a reference detail. He has Bayern Munich - and that alone is more than enough. The only exception in the 9 seasons mentioned above - winning the Champions League with a head coach who has never been to a final before - is Bayern in 2020, coached by Hansi Flick!
Bayern this season has been completely shaped by coach Kompany, not spending money to gather forces. They have failed in plans to recruit Florian Wirtz (to Liverpool), Nick Woltemade (to Newcastle). Stars Alphonso Davies and Jamal Musiala have had to take long-term leave due to injury. There are only 2 significant new faces, mainly no longer having a place in other teams: Nico Jackson (on loan from Chelsea) and Luis Diaz (bought from Liverpool).
But Kompany's Bayern always soar, even always win convincingly regardless of the lineup on the field. Harry Kane scores continuously (22 goals in 14 matches). Lennart Karl (17 years old) and Tom Bischof (20 years old) are the top young stars in Europe. Veteran Manuel Neuer is so excellent that people are trying to convince him to return to the German national team. Just like that, Bayern Munich is a winning machine.
