Although the number of declining stocks exceeded the number of rising stocks, the VN-Index continued to increase thanks to the leading stocks pulling the index up.

Blue-chip stocks maintained their positive momentum, helping the VN-Index continue its upward trend.

The Vietnamese stock market on July 12th was characterized by high investor caution, leading to a sharp decrease in liquidity. Supply at low prices consistently outpaced demand, causing the VN-Index to fall below its reference level for almost the entire trading session. However, large-cap stocks managed to stay in positive territory, preventing a deeper decline. Stocks contributing to the index's upward movement included the Vingroup trio (VHM, VIC, VRE), as well as VCB and BVH.

Meanwhile, the banking sector stocks were predominantly in the red, with VPB falling 1.26%, LPB down 3.09%; CTG, TCB, MBB,ACB , STB, HDB, and VIB all declining by nearly 1%. Similarly, the securities sector, except for CTS, SHS, and TVS which rose, was also dominated by red stocks such as: SSI down 0.36%, VND down 1.68%, HCM down 1.32%, VIX down 1.3%, BSI down 1.41%...

In the real estate sector, besides the three Vingroup stocks, several other stocks also maintained good gains, such as: PDR up 3.8%, HHV up 2.58%, HDC up 1.04%, DPG up 1.15%, NTL up 1.77%...

At the close of trading, the VN-Index rose 2.43 points (0.21%) to 1,154.2 points, with 191 stocks gaining, 233 stocks losing, and 84 stocks remaining unchanged.

At the close of trading on the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX-Index fell slightly by 0.33 points (0.15%) to 228.88 points, with 99 stocks declining, 86 rising, and 148 remaining unchanged. Liquidity on the HOSE decreased sharply, with a total trading value of only nearly 16,700 billion VND. Overall, the total trading value across the entire market reached approximately 19,000 billion VND. Foreign investors continued their strong net selling of over 440 billion VND on the HOSE.
