According to Hai Phong City Police, recently, the situation of illegal sand and gravel mining, pumping and transportation on inland waterways has become complicated. Many vehicles use illegal pumping equipment, operating secretly, causing riverbank erosion, changing the flow, affecting people's lives and the ecological environment.
The Traffic Police Department of Hai Phong City Police launched a general inspection of vehicles equipped with pumping equipment and transporting sand and gravel on waterways from June 1 to November 14, 2025.
Through the general inspection, the Traffic Police Department will thoroughly handle illegal sand and gravel mining activities on waterways. Along with that, strictly manage and control vehicles related to sand and gravel transportation without invoices and documents on both roads and waterways.
The unit will also restore order and discipline in the illegal exploitation, transportation, storage and consumption of sand and gravel on rivers; resolutely handle unregistered and uninspected watercraft, expired inspection vehicles, converted vehicles, vehicles with additional pumping equipment installed, sand and gravel transport vehicles without invoices or documents proving legal origin and related violations of the law.
