According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2024, the total number of candidates registering for the high school graduation exam is 1,071,393 (an increase of more than 45,000 candidates compared to the 2023 exam). Independent candidates are 46,978, accounting for 4.38% of the total number of candidates. Candidates registering online are 1,014,020, accounting for 94.66% of the total number of candidates.

The 2024 high school graduation exam is the final graduation exam for students studying the 2006 generaleducation program. From 2025, students will take the exam according to the new program with many innovations. This year, candidates will take 3 compulsory subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language and a combination exam of Natural Sciences or Social Sciences.
