Announcement of high school graduation exam results

On the afternoon of June 28th, the Ministry of Education and Training held a press conference to provide information about the exam, chaired by Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong, Head of the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam.

According to Mr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director of the Quality Management Department of the Ministry of Education and Training, a total of 1,071,393 candidates registered to take the exam this year.

Throughout the exam, 30 candidates violated the exam regulations and were suspended from the exam for using unauthorized materials and bringing mobile phones into the examination room.

No officials violated the examination regulations. "Up to this point, no instances of organized cheating or fraud have been recorded nationwide," said Mr. Huynh Van Chuong.

According to the Director of the Quality Management Department, the organization of the exams at all testing locations ensured safety, seriousness, and adherence to the plan, meeting the requirements for a streamlined and practical examination. The exam was conducted seriously, honestly, objectively, safely, and in accordance with regulations, ensuring convenience and fairness for all candidates. The exam paper preparation was carried out seriously, safely, and securely from the central to local levels. The exam papers basically met the requirements for organizing the exam.

According to initial assessments from candidates, teachers, and public opinion, the exam questions for all subjects/exams are within the high school curriculum, with appropriate differentiation to ensure accurate and objective results for the purpose of recognizing high school graduation and providing data for higher education and vocational education institutions to use in admissions in accordance with the principle of autonomy.

The exam results for candidates nationwide are expected to be announced at 8:00 AM on July 17th.

Regarding concerns about the possibility of exam questions being leaked in the Literature subject, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Quality Management Department, affirmed that there was no leak of the Literature exam questions. According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, evidence of a leak would be the appearance of an exam paper that duplicated both the text and the requirements of the exam. However, this did not happen.

Further elaborating on this issue, Major General Tran Dinh Chung, Deputy Director of the Internal Political Security Department, Ministry of Public Security , stated regarding the false information about the leaked literature exam questions on the evening of June 26th. Based on the report from the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Public Security has investigated and identified the person who spread the false information about the leaked exam questions. This male student admitted to creating the video himself and pledged not to repeat the offense. According to Major General Tran Dinh Chung, if any further information is discovered in the future, the Ministry of Public Security will continue to investigate and review the matter.

Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong said that immediately after the end of the exam, the grading committees in the localities also began their work. The multiple-choice grading committees have ensured that they have the necessary machinery and equipment to support the computer-based grading process.

Regarding the grading of essay questions, before starting the grading process, the examination boards will meet to agree on the grading guidelines. It is expected that the exam results for all candidates nationwide will be announced at 8:00 AM on July 17th. The responsibility for determining high school graduation for candidates will rest with the Provincial Departments of Education and Training. After the exam results are available, candidates wishing to apply to universities will register their preferences on the Ministry of Education and Training's common admissions system, including both early admission preferences and preferences based on high school graduation exam results.

Leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training stated that they will continue to direct, guide, and strengthen inspection, examination, and supervision to ensure the effective implementation of all stages of exam grading, data comparison of exam scores, announcement of exam results, exam review, high school graduation assessment for candidates, and university admissions. Inspection teams from the National Examination Steering Committee and 63 exam grading inspection teams from the Ministry of Education and Training will conduct inspections of the grading process at all 63 examination boards throughout the duration of this activity to enhance the integrity of the grading process.
