On the afternoon of May 28th, at a press conference providing information on outstanding socio -economic issues in Ho Chi Minh City over the past week, the Ho Chi Minh City Police shared about the popularity of a fan page of the force.
Recently, the fan page of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Force (PC04 - Ho Chi Minh City Police) has attracted significant attention from the online community with a sharp increase in interaction. This change doesn't stem from the core content but rather from the way information is conveyed—more relatable, lively, and relevant to the digital environment.

The posts on the fan page attract tens of thousands of interactions.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Nam, Deputy Head of Department PC 04, the redesign of the fanpage is the result of the direction from the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department in improving the effectiveness of legal education and dissemination . The focus is on delivering information to the public in an easily accessible and understandable way, especially to young people – the group that uses social media the most today.
Instead of the one-way communication style of the past, the fan page has shifted to a storytelling approach, increasing interaction and using relatable language. Content about drug prevention, criminal tactics, and achievements of the police force is presented more vividly, making it easier for people to understand and remember.
The unit also focuses on building a team of professional communications staff who are knowledgeable about social media and possess creative thinking. This is considered a crucial factor in ensuring that the fanpage provides accurate and professional information while also being attractive to followers.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Nam, Deputy Head of PC 04 Department, shared this at the press conference.
The unit's leaders believe that what attracts people is not the novelty of the format, but rather the authenticity, timeliness, and proactive approach in the way information is conveyed. When people feel transparency and closeness, they will proactively interact, share, and cooperate with the authorities.
Despite the increased engagement, the fanpage's biggest goal is not to "chase numbers" but to build an official and reliable information channel. Through this, it aims to raise public awareness of the dangers of drugs and bring people closer to the police force in crime prevention and control.
The reality shows that public awareness – especially among young people – has shifted positively. Previously, many people considered legal information dissemination dry and difficult to access, but now they actively follow, comment on, and share information. Many even provide information and report suspicious signs related to drugs to the authorities.
Notably, content from the fanpage is also used by parents, teachers, and youth union members in disseminating information and educating the public at home, in schools, and in the community. This shows that communication efforts have contributed to spreading awareness that drug prevention and control is not only the responsibility of the police force but also the responsibility of the entire society.
Authorities expect that with this new approach, the fanpage will continue to be effective, contributing to the goal of building a drug-free Ho Chi Minh City by 2030.
