Announcement of registration date for the 2025 capacity assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University

The 2025 Competency Assessment Exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University will take place in two rounds, on March 30 and June 1. Candidates register for the first round on January 20, 2025.

Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chinh - Director of the Center for Testing and Quality Assurance, Ho Chi Minh City National University - said that the first round of the competency assessment exam will be held in 25 provinces and cities on March 30, 2025. Ho Chi Minh City National University opens the first round of registration from January 20 to February 20, 2025, and the results will be announced on April 16, 2025.

Phase 2: Candidates register for the exam from April 17 to May 7, 2025. The exam will take place in 11 provinces and cities on June 1, 2025, and the results will be announced on June 16, 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test consists of 3 parts. Part 1 - language use - has 60 questions, divided equally between Vietnamese and English. Part 2 - mathematics - has 30 questions. Part 3 - scientific thinking - has 30 questions, of which logic and data analysis have 12 questions, and scientific reasoning has 18 questions.

Part 3 is restructured from the logic - data analysis and problem solving sections in the exam structure for the period 2018-2024, aiming to assess candidates' ability in logic and scientific reasoning to solve real-life situations in the fields of science, technology, economics and society.

The questions in the scientific thinking section are designed to provide information, data, facts, experimental planning, and experimental results, thereby requiring candidates to demonstrate their ability to understand and apply information, determine experimental results, and predict laws.

In the 7 years of capacity assessment, Ho Chi Minh City National University has organized 12 rounds of exams with nearly half a million candidates participating. There are 53 universities and colleges coordinating to organize the exam in 26 localities. Students from 1,924 high schools participate in this exam, 109 universities use the results for admission. Ho Chi Minh City National University alone has recruited 37,810 candidates.
