Cause of fire that killed 14 people in Trung Kinh announced

According to Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung, on May 24, at address No. 1, Alley 31, Lane 98, Lane 43, Trung Kinh Street, Trung Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District, a fire broke out, killing 14 people.

Immediately after receiving the report, Hanoi City Police, Hanoi City People's Procuracy, Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ), Institute of Criminal Science and Technology of the Ministry of Public Security, Office of the Investigation Police Agency of the Ministry of Public Security proceeded to handle the case for investigation according to regulations.

Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung said the cause of the fire was determined to be a short circuit in the power line at the front of the electric motorbike, which burned the insulation and then spread to surrounding motorbikes. "We have determined the exact cause," said the Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police.

According to Mr. Tung, on May 25, the Hanoi City Police Investigation Agency issued a decision to prosecute the criminal case of "Violating regulations on fire prevention and fighting", and conduct investigation measures to clarify the case and violations of related organizations and individuals, if any, for strict handling.

The Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police said that the Investigation Police Agency focused on clarifying two issues: One is the rental and operation of the boarding house, determining the responsibility of the two people who organized the rental as the landlord, however, these two people died in the fire so criminal responsibility will not be considered.

Second, the Investigation Police Agency is continuing to investigate and clarify the responsibilities of individuals involved in state management, construction order management, and fire prevention and fighting for the above-mentioned boarding house.

"Currently, the Hanoi City Police Investigation Agency is coordinating with the Procuracy to collect documents and evidence to clarify and strictly handle according to the provisions of the law. There are no forbidden areas, no cover-ups to set an example for other cases to educate and prevent in general," said Major General Tung .
