Associate Professor Dr. Ho Van Thong has been appointed by the Minister of Education and Training to the position of Rector of Dong Thap University for the term 2025-2030.

On September 30th, Dong Thap University held a ceremony to announce the decision of the Minister of Education and Training recognizing Associate Professor Dr. Ho Van Thong as the Rector of Dong Thap University for the term 2025-2030.

At the ceremony, Professor Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, announced the decision of the Minister of Education and Training to recognize Associate Professor Ho Van Thong as the Rector of Dong Thap University for the term 2025-2030.

In his acceptance speech, Associate Professor Ho Van Thong expressed his honor at being entrusted with the responsibility of Rector of Dong Thap University by the university and the Ministry of Education and Training. He also stated that for the period 2025-2030, Dong Thap University identifies human resources as the central factor in its development strategy, focusing on development for and by people; aiming to become a high-quality training and scientific research center in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. In this context, the university will implement innovative thinking, continue to explore and effectively apply university autonomy and advanced university governance.

The school will also leverage the advantages of the Mekong Delta region and Dong Thap province to implement training, scientific research, and community service more effectively, quickly, and on a larger scale. It will continue to exploit the great potential in educational science and teacher training to promote innovation in educational activities, with a greater focus on innovation within the school.

Associate Professor Dr. Ho Van Thong (57 years old, originally from Cai Be District, Tien Giang Province - now Dong Thap Province). He has held many positions: Head of the Education and Training Department of Thap Muoi District; Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dong Thap Province; Secretary of the Hong Nguy Town Party Committee (Dong Thap Province).

In August 2020, he was transferred and appointed by the Standing Committee of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee to the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Dong Thap University. In November 2020, he was appointed Vice Rector of the university. In December 2021, he was recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training as the Rector of Dong Thap University for the term 2020-2025.

Seven individuals from Dong Thap University received commendations from the Prime Minister for outstanding performance during the 2019-2024 period.

The Rector of Dong Thap University also presented certificates of commendation to many outstanding partners, units, and individuals who have made significant contributions to the university's recruitment, training, and professional development activities.

In addition, the Dong Thap University's Scholarship Association awarded 20 scholarships, each worth 2 million VND, to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who achieved good academic results.
