Announcement of the establishment of Dong Trieu City

On the evening of January 1, 2025, Dong Trieu City held a ceremony to announce the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the establishment of Dong Trieu City and to receive the First-Class Labor Medal.

Attending the ceremony were Central Committee member and Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh, along with representatives from central and local ministries, departments, and agencies, and a large number of people from Dong Trieu City.

Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh presented the Decision of the President of Vietnam awarding the First Class Labor Order to the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Trieu City.

At the ceremony, delegates and the people together recalled the glorious traditions of the Fourth War Zone of Dong Trieu. Over the past time, Dong Trieu has risen to become a bright spot in the development of Quang Ninh province; leading the province in building model new rural areas. At the same time, it has affirmed its position as a dynamic and sustainable developing locality in the era of integration. The economy has continuously maintained stable and sustainable development, with an average growth rate of over 14% during the 2020-2024 period. The people's living standards have been continuously improved. Average per capita income is projected to reach US$8,803 in 2024, and there are no longer any poor households in the city according to the province's criteria.

Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh presented the Resolution of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the establishment of Dong Trieu City, directly under Quang Ninh province, to the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Trieu City.

With the determination and tireless efforts of the Party Committee, government, and people of Dong Trieu, on December 29, 2023, Dong Trieu was recognized by the Ministry of Construction as meeting the criteria for a type III urban area with a plan to expand the inner city area by adding 4 wards.

On September 28, 2024, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 1199 on the reorganization of commune-level administrative units, establishing four wards: Binh Duong, Thuy An, Binh Khe, and Yen Duc, and establishing Dong Trieu City - the fifth city of Quang Ninh province.

Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Acknowledging and commending the achievements of the Party Committee, government, and people of Dong Trieu, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasized: The upgrading of Dong Trieu to a city directly under the provincial administration not only affirms the Central Government's confidence in the locality's position and development potential, but also serves as a driving force requiring the Party Committee, government, and people of Dong Trieu to continue to strongly promote their glorious traditions, spirit of unity, innovation, and aspiration for development to consolidate its role as one of the important pillars, undertaking the role of connecting the region, contributing to helping Quang Ninh province move closer to the goal of becoming a city directly under the central administration by 2030.

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh noted that, in the development process, the city needs to focus on effectively implementing solutions to improve urban quality and sustainable urban development as outlined in Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW of the Politburo, placing it in the overall context with other localities in the region; contributing to the successful construction of a green, smart, sustainable urban model that adapts to climate change.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly urged the Party Committee, the government, and the people of the city to continue to unite, innovate, and strongly awaken the aspiration for development, propelling the city to greater heights and becoming an economic, cultural, and historical center not only of Quang Ninh province but also of the entire region...

Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, Nghiem Xuan Cuong, presented the Decision on Investment Policy, Decision on Adjustment of Investment Policy, and Decision on Land Allocation and Land Lease for investment projects in Dong Trieu City.

As part of a series of activities to celebrate the announcement of the National Assembly Standing Committee's Resolution on the establishment of Dong Trieu City, on the morning of January 1st, Dong Trieu City held its 2025 Investment Promotion Conference. At the conference, experts and investors suggested many solutions to promote the socio-economic development of this city, the western gateway to Quang Ninh province. On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee issued investment policy decisions, adjusted investment policy decisions, and land allocation/lease decisions for four projects with a total investment of over 2,000 billion VND. A signing ceremony for memoranda of understanding on investment for five projects with a total investment of approximately 7,400 billion VND took place in Dong Trieu City.
