No longer a “backup plan”, private healthcare is rising with a series of international hospitals such as Tam Anh and MEDLATEC - where quality comes from both technology and people.

Private healthcare is shaping new standards

Private healthcare is no longer an “alternative solution” when public hospitals are overloaded, but is becoming the first choice of many people, especially in big cities. This change stems from the fact that private healthcare facilities are increasingly investing systematically, synchronously and intensively in technical infrastructure, human resources, quality management systems as well as high technology.

One of the typical examples is the Tam Anh General Hospital system, which has been proving that professional quality is not the privilege of public health. According to the results of the 2025 hospital quality assessment by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, Tam Anh Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City scored 962.57/1,000 points, ranking first among private hospitals in the area and only behind two large public hospitals. More notably, in Hanoi , Tam Anh General Hospital in Hanoi scored 968/1,000 points, ranking number 1 in the city, surpassing many leading public hospitals such as: Xanh Pon, Tim Ha Noi or Phu Maternity Ha Noi .

This not only reflects the serious level of investment but also shows that the standardization of procedures, expertise and service quality of private hospitals has reached a high level, approaching international standards. Tam Anh not only stands out with modern facilities but is also a pioneer in applying high technology to examination, diagnosis and treatment, such as the Da Vinci Xi surgical robot system, 3.0 Tesla MRI system, 1,975-slice CT integrated with artificial intelligence...

Ranked as a specialized hospital, Tam Anh is one of the few private hospitals that is covered by health insurance without requiring a referral, creating convenience and reducing treatment costs for people.

Along with treatment, private healthcare also makes its mark in testing and community healthcare. Notably, MEDLATEC Healthcare System is a pioneer in applying international standard testing technology and bringing healthcare services to your home. With CAP certification - the world's most stringent testing standards - and the title of National Brand 2024, MEDLATEC affirms its leading position and enhances trust in private healthcare.

Every day, MEDLATEC receives and processes tens of thousands of specimens nationwide thanks to the 24/7 on-site sampling system. From registration to sample collection takes only about 30 minutes, with results returned after 2 hours, or even faster with emergency testing.

Thanks to that capacity, MEDLATEC has become the official testing partner of more than 50 major hospitals, providing clinical support, technology transfer and sharing accurate testing data. Connecting to health insurance and expanding the network to rural areas contributes to equalizing access to high-quality medical services.

Contribute to reducing hospital overload

In a comprehensive view, private healthcare facilities are not only meeting the increasing demand of people for quality, convenience and personalization in healthcare, but also contributing to effectively reducing the burden on the public healthcare system, especially in large cities. Flexible operating models, rapid investment capacity, easy adaptation to technology and market trends help private healthcare become a complementary force, accompanying public healthcare in building a modern and sustainable universal healthcare system.

However, according to some health experts, for private healthcare to truly develop sustainably and play a strategic role in the future, there needs to be synchronous support policies and solutions from the State.

Firstly, it is necessary to strongly reform the legal mechanism and administrative procedures to create favorable conditions for businesses to invest in the healthcare sector, especially in areas lacking high-quality healthcare services.

Second, it is necessary to build a fair and transparent health insurance payment mechanism between the public and private sectors, to ensure that all people have access to quality services regardless of the source of supply. Third, publicizing hospital quality indicators and strengthening the role of independent supervision from management agencies and people will help promote healthy competition and improve the overall quality of the industry.

In addition, it is necessary to encourage the public-private partnership (PPP) model in the health sector in a substantial manner, not only stopping at infrastructure joint ventures, but also expanding to professional cooperation, human resource training, technology transfer and sharing of health data. This model will help to take advantage of the strengths of both sectors: public health with its system foundation, reputation and large network; private health with its dynamism, efficiency and ability to invest in rapid innovation.
