The community is ready to lend a hand.

The 10th grade entrance exam and high school graduation exam in Da Nang city are entering their final stages, involving not only the candidates but also the preparations of volunteer youth teams, police officers, traffic police, medical staff, and especially parents.

Ready to be there, to accompany you.

Amidst the pressure of high competition rates, scores, and cutoffs, and with the 10th-grade entrance exam considered even more stressful than the university entrance exam, students need the support of the entire community more than ever.

It's the cool water being passed around, the encouraging applause, a smile, a glance, and even hands writing answers for the candidates, and the strong back carrying the students to the examination room.

Sharing his memories of supporting students during their exams, Nguyen Gia Bao, a volunteer in the exam support program of the former Thanh Khe District Youth Union, still vividly remembers the high school graduation exam in July 2022 at the Thai Phien High School exam center.

That morning, amidst the crowd of people dropping off candidates for the exam, Bao noticed a family whose daughter had broken her leg and was still in a cast. While the parents were still struggling to park their car in front of the school gate, Bao and his fellow volunteers quickly approached, proactively offering assistance, inquiring about the situation, and asking the head of the exam center for permission to carry the student to the exam room.

According to her family, H. unfortunately had an accident right before the 2022 high school graduation exam but still tried to take it. On the day of the exam regulations briefing, upon arriving at the exam site, the family's and the student's worries increased when they learned that relatives were not allowed into the exam area. Seeing their daughter struggling to move, the family feared she would be under even more pressure without anyone to support her.

But right from the entrance to the examination center, that worry was alleviated. The officers in blue uniforms were present in time, gently approaching and assisting candidates so they could enter the examination rooms smoothly.

At that time, Bao was an 11th-grade student at Thanh Khe High School, participating in the exam support team. When assigned to carry a candidate to the exam room, Bao said that he only had one simple thought in his mind: if it were him or a loved one, they would also need such help.

And the image of the 11th-grade male student carrying a candidate with a broken leg into the exam room, then carefully waiting to pick up the candidate and carrying them out to the school gate after each exam session, remains a beautiful memory that many parents and candidates at the Thai Phien High School exam center recall with all their heart.

Students - We are always here for you.

With the spirit of the whole society working together and providing support, since April, the Da Nang City Youth Union has planned to implement the "Supporting Students During Exams" program in 2026, with phase 1 focusing on the 10th grade entrance exam for the upcoming school year, which will take place from May 23rd to 25th.

To ensure that no candidate misses the exam, the Da Nang Youth Union has coordinated with the government and medical facilities to gather information on the situation of candidates in the locality in order to proactively handle any unusual incidents related to weather, accidents, health issues, etc. For candidates with special circumstances or disabilities, local youth unions will implement free transportation services.

And to spread this information, youth unions in Da Nang's communes and wards are posting it on social media so that "students will always see us" - shared Ms. Le Thi Bich Hien, Vice President of the Hai Chau Ward Youth Union.

Ms. Hien added that the unit is preparing personnel, ready to take on tasks at the examination sites when assigned by the City Youth Union.

“Accompanying the students through each exam season, we ourselves feel nervous because everyone has faced such pressure before. Each volunteer tries their best, not only by giving away a bottle of water or a hand fan, but also by providing energy, spirit, smiles, encouraging applause, and a willingness to accompany and support them. This helps students feel more at ease knowing that we are always by their side during this crucial exam period,” shared Ms. Hien.

It wasn't just the volunteers in their blue uniforms; during the exam days, a special force, in their distinctive attire, accompanied the candidates on every route and at every exam location: the police and traffic police, who were always ready to act as "transporters" at any time.

Over the years, many images of police officers and traffic police escorting late candidates to the exam site, or taking candidates who forgot their documents home to retrieve them and then returning to the exam site on time, have touched many people.

And there are many more unsung heroes: medical personnel on duty, supervising teachers; civil defense forces maintaining order and safety; and exam center officials silently coordinating everything…

Everyone is ready to support them, silently but surely, in this "examination hurdle"—the students are not alone.
