Samsung to hold new Unpacked event on September 4

Samsung will hold a completely online Unpacked event at 5:30 a.m. in the US (about 4:30 p.m. Vietnam time) on September 4. The event will be streamed live on YouTube and Samsung's official website.

After unveiling the Galaxy S25 series in January and the Galaxy Z Fold 7/Z Flip 7 in July, Samsung could use the event to announce new tablets. The Galaxy Tab S10 Lite was previously announced, and leaks suggest the Tab S11 and Tab S11 Ultra are in the works.

The event will also reveal many specifications of the Tab S11 and S11 Ultra duo. The Tab S11 is said to have an AMOLED screen, 12GB of RAM and a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip. The Ultra version will have a larger screen, up to 16GB of RAM and an 11,600mAh battery.

Another Samsung product, the Galaxy S25 FE, is expected to have an upgraded selfie camera to 12MP (compared to 10MP of the S24 FE), a larger 4,900mAh battery and faster charging speed. This will be an attractive option for users who want to experience the S25 series at a lower cost.

In addition, Samsung is also developing Android XR augmented reality glasses (Project Moohan) and the first tri-fold phone, expected to launch in 2025.

Beijing to build at least 20 5G factories by 2027

Beijing, China has just announced a plan to promote the integration of 5G networks and the industrial internet. The goal is to build at least 20 factories using 5G technology in the period 2025–2027.

According to the plan, the city will deploy at least 50 specialized 5G networks and develop an equivalent number of comprehensive and specialized 5G application solution providers.

The construction of 5G factories will be prioritized for expanding 5G network coverage in industrial parks and business-concentrated areas. The city will deploy industrial 5G private networks and 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technology.

Major companies in the electronics, automobile, equipment and biopharmaceutical sectors will play a key role in building 5G factories. Beijing will also promote technological innovation by testing 5G applications in industrial manufacturing, connected vehicles and healthcare .

In addition, the city also plans to research and test 6G technology in industrial environments, preparing for further advances in the future.

US postpones re-imposing 25% tax on GPUs made in China

The 25% import tariff on graphics cards made in China – under the “Section 301” regulation – which was scheduled to be re-imposed on September 1, has been postponed by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) for another 90 days, that is, until at least November 30.

The delay helps stabilize GPU prices and supplies, which were severely affected by speculation and shortages earlier this year. Tech companies have responded strongly, saying they still rely on Chinese factories to manufacture components.

The Trump administration is considering tariffs of up to 300% on chips made abroad, but it's unclear whether GPUs would be affected.
