Models such as growing melons in greenhouses, automatic drip irrigation, product traceability via QR codes or circular agriculture not only increase the value of agricultural products but also contribute to changing production thinking, building brands and moving towards modern, sustainable agriculture.
With a passion for high-tech agriculture and a spirit of learning, Mr. Nguyen Viet Lam, born in 1992 in Goc Queo village, Tan Thanh commune, has successfully built a high-tech hydroponic vegetable growing model, earning billions of dong each year. To gain knowledge, he went online to order books, looked up information from American and Israeli websites, and went to practice at some hydroponic vegetable growing models in the country.
Mr. Lam said that after more than seven years of investment and development, his high-tech hydroponic vegetable farm has expanded to more than 8,000 m² of greenhouse, specializing in growing melons, bell peppers, and cucumbers with a drip irrigation system and pre-programmed water pipes, automatic sensors to adjust humidity and water levels, creating an optimal environment for plant growth. Thanks to production according to modern processes, the farm's melons and cucumbers have achieved 3-star OCOP certification, supplying an average of more than 60 tons of melons, 15 tons of bell peppers, and 10 tons of cucumbers to Phu Tho, Hanoi , Bac Ninh, Hung Yen provinces and supermarkets each year. The farm also creates regular jobs for seven local workers with an average income of 6 million VND/person/month. In the coming time, Mr. Lam plans to expand the hydroponic growing area and develop more crops on land to diversify products, better meeting market demand.
The greenhouse agricultural model of Kim Binh Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative is also creating agricultural products of outstanding quality. Director of the Cooperative Cao Van Phuc said that by investing in the greenhouse model, the Cooperative has domesticated high-quality melon varieties such as: Kim Hoang Hau, Sua, Ichiba. With its superiority, greenhouse technology has minimized the impact of weather, pests, and diseases, while stabilizing temperature and humidity, creating the best growing environment for crops. With an area of only 2,700 m2, each year the Cooperative produces about 24-25 tons of high-quality melons of all kinds, earning nearly 1 billion VND.
Production using new technology is accompanied by modern equipment that is also invested by cooperatives and farm owners, such as: automatic drip irrigation systems; drones for spraying pesticides and sensors to measure soil and water environment... helping to save labor, costs and improve production efficiency.
According to the statistics of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tuyen Quang province, the whole province currently has more than 3,900 hectares of crops produced according to modern agricultural standards, smart agriculture, focusing on fruit trees, industrial crops, vegetables, beans... Applying smart agricultural production, product value increases by about 30-40% compared to traditional production methods; the rate of pests and diseases is reduced by 35-40%, no widespread pests occur.
Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Pham Manh Duyet said: Tuyen Quang has pioneered in applying science and technology, promoting digital transformation and green transformation in agricultural production. According to statistics, more than 270 key agricultural products of the province have been traced and sold on e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Shopee, Tiki and specialized agricultural product trading platforms, thereby helping farmers increase their income and reduce dependence on traders. Consumers only need to scan the QR code to look up product information, from the cultivation process, harvest date, production location. This not only creates trust for consumers but also enhances the brand value of Tuyen Quang agricultural products.
The province also encourages the development of organic and circular agriculture, improving the VAC model to create a closed ecosystem, utilizing livestock waste as fertilizer, treating wastewater for fish and eel farming, etc., both saving costs and protecting the environment. Along with that, each year Tuyen Quang plants more than 11,000 hectares of forest, maintaining its leading position in the northern mountainous provinces in forest development, contributing to climate regulation and the development of combined agriculture and forestry.
From a poor province with backward agricultural production and self-sufficiency, thanks to the strong application of science and technology and innovation, Tuyen Quang agriculture has made a breakthrough, firmly asserting its position as a pillar of the economy. According to statistics, the province's annual food output is estimated at about 600 thousand tons; the output of planted forest wood is more than 1 million cubic meters/year, ensuring a stable source of raw materials for the wood processing industry in and outside the province; the output of raw tea for export is among the top in the region and nationwide. In addition, there are many other products such as: oranges, specialty fish, OCOP products...
