The working group of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province inspected and evaluated the first fruit garden in Sa Pa town.

Accordingly, the 4 recognized flagship orchards belong to the Center for Research and Development of Temperate Plants, located at Group 1, Sa Pa Ward, Sa Pa Town.

Fruit tree varieties include: Australian plum (Dowworth), quantity of 15 trees, the maximum total amount of propagation material allowed to be exploited is 30,000 grafts/year; peach tree ĐMN1, quantity of 15 trees, the maximum total amount of propagation material allowed to be exploited is 30,000 grafts/year; rose tree MC1, quantity of 10 trees, with the maximum total amount of propagation material allowed to be exploited is 20,000 grafts/year; pear tree LMN1, quantity of 15 trees, the maximum total amount of propagation material allowed to be exploited is 30,000 grafts/year.

In addition, a primary orchard of early-ripening Ta Van plum variety was recognized at the Bac Ha Vegetable and Fruit Research and Production Farm (under the Lao Cai Agricultural Seed Center), Ta Chai commune, Bac Ha district. The orchard has 70 trees, with a total maximum allowable amount of propagation material from 35,000 - 105,000 grafted buds/year depending on the growing conditions and productivity each year.

Recognized parent tree gardens must strictly comply with technical procedures, ensure the quality of breeding materials, keep full records and exploit seeds according to regulations. Garden owners are responsible for periodically reporting on the growth and development of seedlings and fulfilling financial obligations according to the law.

Recognizing the parent orchards is an important step, contributing to proactively providing high-quality seed sources, serving the goal of expanding temperate fruit growing areas in the province, especially in localities with suitable climate conditions such as Sa Pa town and Bac Ha district.
