Prosecutors request arrest of "movie king" Yoo Ah-in

On September 19, Allkpop reported the next developments in the drug scandal of "film king" Yoo Ah-in. Accordingly, on September 18, the Special Criminal Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office - South Korea, requested an arrest warrant for Yoo Ah-in and a man surnamed Cho - the actor's accomplice.

Previously, in May, the police investigation department had requested an arrest warrant for Yoo Ah-in but the court rejected it. Therefore, the public following the case is waiting to see whether the "film king" will be arrested this time or not.

"Movie King" Yoo Ah-in lost his career due to drug scandal

Yoo Ah-in was accused by the prosecution of regularly purchasing and using narcotics including propofol more than 200 times and spending more than 378,000 USD (more than 9.2 billion VND) on drugs.

A representative from the prosecution said, "We suspect that Yoo Ah-in used drugs persistently and illegally through a behavior commonly known as 'hospital hopping.' Yoo Ah-in went to many hospitals to buy drugs containing narcotics to collect and abuse them. The actor also illegally purchased sleeping pills containing narcotics under the names of others, and traveled abroad with Mr. Choi and others to abuse drugs."

The representative added that the charges against the "movie king" in addition to drug possession and use also include obstructing the investigation, destroying evidence, assisting accomplices in fleeing abroad, and threatening accomplices to change their statements.

The actor is said to have bought and used 1,000 addictive sleeping pills under someone else's name, and used marijuana and other synthetic drugs with others abroad.

When the drug scandal broke out, Yoo Ah-in's rising career came to a halt, and all of his films were postponed. The "Emperor of Films" publicly apologized to the public and his fans.

The prosecution requested his arrest.
