Lai Chau Electricity Company: Conference on coordination of electricity supply and operation management

There are currently 74 hydropower plants in operation in the province with a total capacity of more than 3,381MW. In the first 6 months of 2025, the load capacity recorded an increase of 4.7% over the same period in 2024, reaching 71.34MW; it is forecasted that in the last 6 months of the year it will reach about 76MW, an increase of 11% over 2024.

Conference scene.

Hydropower plants in the province play a particularly important role, both providing stable electricity for the national power system and contributing to local socio -economic development. The power grid system managed by PC Lai Chau has received attention and investment for expansion in recent years. The company focuses on completing 110kV grid projects on schedule and coordinating with project management boards of the Electricity industry to speed up projects such as: 500kV Lai Chau transformer station, 220kV Muong Te, Phong Tho, Pac Ma, ... to improve the ability to receive capacity from hydropower plants and increase the reliability of power supply. Strengthening coordination between hydropower plants and the Electricity industry in operation, dispatching and incident handling contributes to ensuring energy security and safe and reliable power supply for Lai Chau province and the national power system.

At the conference, Northern Electrical Testing Company Limited introduced services in the field of calibration testing for small and medium hydropower plant projects.

Departments and offices of Lai Chau PC and some investors of hydropower projects gave speeches on some contents about improving the capacity of operating the power system and releasing the capacity of hydropower plants in Lai Chau province; coordination of operations between hydropower plants and Lai Chau PC...

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Giang A Tinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Electricity sector to advise the Provincial People's Committee to strengthen the Provincial Power Development Steering Committee to meet practical requirements in the new period. Promote communication on rooftop solar power. Prepare plans and scenarios for natural disaster response, search and rescue, electricity supply in hot season, and plans to reasonably regulate water resources for hydropower operations. Proactively advise the Provincial People's Committee and departments, branches and localities to continue supporting related procedures to speed up the progress of source projects and transmission grid projects to help improve the efficiency of releasing capacity of hydropower plants. PC Lai Chau and hydropower plants in the province should better coordinate in electricity supply and grid operation management.
