Nottingham Forest successfully extended Gibbs-White's contract. |
On July 26, Nottingham Forest announced a one-year contract extension with Gibbs-White, allowing him to stay at the club until the summer of 2028. This move disappointed Tottenham as Spurs had previously agreed to pay Gibbs-White's £60 million contract termination fee.
The 25-year-old has been instrumental in Nottingham Forest's revival in the 2024/25 season, with his previous contract set to expire in 2027. Forest's board recognised the midfielder's importance and convinced Gibbs-White to commit long-term.
Since his move from Wolves in the summer of 2022, Gibbs-White has become one of Forest’s brightest stars. His creativity and leadership were evident in the 2024/25 season, with 7 goals and 10 assists, helping the team finish 7th in the Premier League.
To date, Gibbs-White has made 118 appearances for Forest, scoring 18 goals and providing 28 assists, numbers that clearly reflect his influence in attacking situations.
Gibbs-White recently returned to training with his teammates in Portugal after being given extra time off due to family issues. Upon his return, he participated in a friendly match against AS Monaco on July 19.
As for Tottenham, the team was forced to switch to another target after missing out on the chance to sign Gibbs-White.
