The recent floods have caused flash floods and serious landslides in many areas of western Nghe An . Roads were cut off, hundreds of households had to evacuate, many places were isolated, and there was a serious shortage of clean water and food.

Faced with this situation, authorities at all levels, armed forces and volunteer organizations quickly took action. The first relief trucks crossed many slippery roads, blocked by dirt and rocks to reach the people in the flooded areas. In Tuong Duong commune, one convoy after another bearing the words "Flood relief" carrying gifts including rice, instant noodles, drinking water, blankets, mosquito nets, cooking oil, etc. were handed directly to the severely affected households.

“The floodwaters rose so high that the whole family could only run up the hill. Now that we have returned home, there is nothing left to eat. We received a box of instant noodles, a bottle of drinking water, and fish sauce, but tears just flowed,” said Ms. Luong Thi Bich, a resident of Mac village, choking up.

Not only the authorities, many individuals and volunteer groups have called for and organized relief convoys departing from communes, wards, and even outside the province such as Thai Nguyen, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong, Hanoi ... to the mountainous communes of Nghe An. The convoys loaded with goods, leaving early in the morning, weaving through landslides and muddy roads to bring necessities to the people. Humanity spreads through every glance, every handshake between strangers but close.
Observing some residential areas where the floodwaters had just receded, occasionally people raised their hands to signal for relief goods. The car stopped, they quickly opened the trunk, took out a few boxes of instant noodles, boxes of bottled water... and continued on their way.

In the relief trucks, there is not only rice, salt, instant noodles, drinking water, but also medicine, clothes... Each shipment, each small action at this time becomes a fire to warm the cold roofs after natural disasters.
Mr. Pham Van Hieu - a relief truck driver from Ninh Binh province said that after traveling for one night, his group arrived at Tuong Duong commune at 8:00 a.m. on July 27. As planned, today, the group will hand over all goods and necessities to the Tuong Duong Commune Fatherland Front Committee, from there, the local government will deliver them to the people, because the group cannot transport them to each village. On this trip, the group mobilized the following items: instant noodles, candy, drinks, fish sauce, clothes, blankets, mosquito nets...

According to the data of the Fatherland Front Committee of Tuong Duong commune, as of noon on July 27, the locality had received 28 relief groups from localities in and outside the province: Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen, Ninh Binh, Ha Tinh... In addition to the main goods such as instant noodles, bottled water, fish sauce, candy, clothes... there was also more than 142 million VND in cash. To promptly deliver relief goods to people in flooded areas, villages and hamlets sent people and vehicles to the commune center to receive them. For isolated villages, boats were used for transportation.

Although the road is still littered with dirt and rocks, the spirit of “helping each other” has never been stronger. The convoys of relief vehicles continue to extend. The hands are still reaching out. And somewhere in the middle of the village, the land is gradually drying up, the smiles of the people are gradually returning, although it is still difficult, but there is a solid support from the deep love of compatriots.
