Record high areca nut prices
Not only coffee prices but also areca nut prices are currently causing farmers to “stir up” because of their record highs. Areca nut prices are fluctuating at 80,000-85,000 VND/kg.
Areca growers have made a huge profit, as this price has been maintained continuously for nearly half a year. One ton of areca is currently worth one tael of gold.
According to traders who directly pick areca nuts, prices have increased and remained high for many months because China is buying very strongly. As soon as areca nuts are picked, they are bought. Many owners of "kilns" that buy and process areca nuts also said that this year China has not shown any signs of reducing its purchases, so prices have increased continuously.
Areca nut prices hit a record high and have remained stable for months. However, local authorities have discouraged people from massively increasing their planting areas. (See details)
Surpassing a series of competitors, Vietnam's 'pearl' is the most expensive in the world
Rice prices of many competitors such as Thailand, Pakistan, India, etc. have plummeted, while Vietnam's "pearl" is stable and is the most expensive in the world.
Data from the Vietnam Food Association shows that in the trading session on October 10, the price of 5% broken rice from Vietnam was stable at 538 USD/ton, 40 USD/ton higher than the same type from Thailand, 51 USD/ton higher than Pakistan and 49 USD/ton higher than India, respectively.
The US Department of Agriculture forecasts that Vietnam's rice exports are expected to reach 7-7.5 million tons in the coming crop year. Vietnam's organic rice and fragrant rice products are favored by many countries thanks to their diverse and high-quality products, helping to maintain higher selling prices compared to India and Thailand. Chinese 'aristocratic' crabs become common goods in Vietnamese markets, easy to buy like vegetables
Just a few years after appearing in the Vietnamese market, hairy crab - the "aristocratic" crab of China - has become extremely expensive. If converted by weight, hairy crab sold in the Vietnamese market 7 years ago cost up to nearly 4 million VND/kg, one of the most expensive prices among crabs in the world.
However, in recent years, hairy crabs have flooded into Vietnamese markets, becoming a common commodity, easily bought like vegetables. The price of “noble” hairy crabs is also getting cheaper, currently only equal to Ca Mau sea crabs, or even cheaper.
In stores and online markets, “noble” crabs are being sold everywhere. Accordingly, the price of male crabs ranges from 350,000-410,000 VND/kg, female crabs are commonly at 450,000-590,000 VND/kg. (See details)
