Vietnam Road Administration directs central and northwestern provinces to ensure safe and smooth traffic

Implementing the Official Dispatch of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction, the Vietnam Road Administration has just requested road management units and the Department of Construction of the central and northwestern provinces to urgently overcome landslides and ensure safe and smooth traffic, especially in Nghe An province - an area heavily affected by storm No. 3.

Faced with the complicated developments of floods after storm No. 3 and following the direction of the Prime Minister, on the evening of July 23, the Vietnam Road Administration issued an urgent document requesting road management units and the Departments of Construction of Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Son La, Lao Cai , Phu Tho provinces, Project Management Boards 3 and Road Management Boards 4 to urgently deploy measures to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, ensuring traffic safety on important national highways.

The dispatch clearly states: units need to immediately deploy tasks according to Official Dispatch 119/CD-TTg dated July 22, 2025 of the Prime Minister and Official Dispatch 38/CD-BXD dated July 23, 2025 of the Ministry of Construction , in which special attention should be paid to handling landslides and damage to restore safe and smooth traffic.

Three key task groups set by the Vietnam Road Administration include:

Emergency response to natural disaster consequences: Immediately check and repair landslides, road breaks, and flooding; place warning and prohibition signs at dangerous locations and do not allow people or vehicles to pass through until safety is ensured.

Monitor the weather and proactively respond: Units must continuously update the situation of floods and landslides; organize 24/7 duty to promptly handle situations of traffic separation and isolation.

Local support, especially in Nghe An : Road Management Area II and Nghe An Department of Construction are assigned to closely coordinate, share materials and human resources to ensure traffic on key routes in this province.

The Vietnam Road Administration also requires Project Management Boards 3 and 4, and investors of traffic works under construction, to ensure absolute safety for people and equipment, and to closely coordinate with local authorities in disaster prevention and control.

Deputy Director of the Vietnam Road Administration Nguyen Thanh Hoai emphasized: "Ensuring traffic in the context of heavy rain and floods is an urgent task, requiring drastic, proactive and responsible participation from all relevant units."
