The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that from August 30 to September 3, domestic airlines will operate a total of 4,257 flights, an average of 840 flights/day, an increase of 3% compared to the previous holiday week.
Of which, the average number of domestic flights is 600 flights/day (up 5%), the average number of international flights is 241 flights/day, down 2% compared to the previous holiday week.
In particular, airlines have increased flights on the North-South routes, connecting three major cities: Hanoi - Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City, increasing the total number of flights to an average of 241 flights/day, an increase of 8% compared to the week before the holiday.
Domestic tourist flights (to localities such as Vinh, Binh Dinh, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc) and flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to other localities are also being exploited more vigorously. Accordingly, there are about 171 flights/day on domestic tourist routes and 187 flights/day to other localities, increasing by 2% and 4% respectively compared to the previous holiday week.
A representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam emphasized that increasing the number of flights during the upcoming holidays, especially on domestic routes, has allowed airlines to supply additional seats to the market.
Accordingly, the total number of seats provided on domestic flights during August 30 - September 3 is expected to be more than 600,000 seats, an average of 122,000 seats/day, an increase of 5% compared to the previous holiday week.
Tourist routes and North-South routes are still the routes with the largest increase in the number of seats provided, with an average of 33,000 seats/day and 55,400 seats/day, respectively, an average increase of 6.8% compared to the previous holiday week.
Ticket prices increase about 20% on the first and last days of the holiday.
According to a survey of airline ticket price data on August 20, ticket prices during the National Day holiday on September 2 increased by about 20% compared to normal days before the holiday.
Specifically, during the daytime hours of August 30, on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, the highest ticket price recorded was about 2.6 million VND/way of Vietnam Airlines (an increase of 8% compared to a week before).
Also with this flight time, Vietjet Air has a price of about 2.3 million VND/way, an increase of 25% compared to a week ago.
On the Hanoi - Nha Trang route, ticket prices announced by airlines range from 2.4 - 3 million VND/way, an increase of about 24% compared to the previous holiday week.
“Ticket prices tend to increase, but mainly on the first and last days of the holiday season. In the middle of the holiday season, basic ticket prices are relatively stable,” the representative of the Civil Aviation Authority emphasized.
Compared with the peak holiday period data of April 30 - May 1, although it is also the peak period of the year, ticket prices for National Day September 2 have decreased significantly.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam recommends that passengers traveling by air should book tickets early to have more options. At the same time, proactively monitor flight schedules and arrange travel time to airports to avoid congestion or delays.
In addition, within each individual's conditions, passengers can also consider booking tickets for early or late departures during the day, to have more options for cheaper prices and experience night flights with airlines.
