In just 2 months, the 10th grade entrance exam will take place. This is an important exam that marks a turning point in the students' learning process. To help students adapt to an exam with many innovations, schools across the province are taking advantage of the time to systematize knowledge and practice test-taking skills for 9th grade students.
At Ky Nam Secondary and High School (Ky Anh town), during this period, in addition to spending time completing the main curriculum, teachers also increased practice tests for students. The school organized many mock tests to help students practice and improve their test-taking skills.
Mr. Tran Xuan Dat - Principal of Ky Nam Primary and Secondary School informed: "Along with the 2 trial exams organized by the Department of Education and Training, recently, we have also coordinated with schools in the area to organize 3 more trial exams for students. We will notify parents of the results after each exam, this is also the basis for the school to adjust the teaching and review plan".
Students in remote areas still face many difficulties, their knowledge is mainly accumulated from class hours. Therefore, in addition to taking advantage of time to help students accumulate knowledge and practice skills, teachers also increase coordination with parents in caring for, managing and reminding children to promote the spirit of self-study. From the attention of the school and parents, students have made efforts to improve their self-study awareness, preparing knowledge for the upcoming important exam.
Mai Thuc Anh (grade 9A - Ky Nam Primary and Secondary School) said: “Along with the guidance of teachers in class, through review groups, at home, I also spend a lot of time to systematize the knowledge I have learned and do the exercises. In addition, the school's attention to increasing mock tests and assessments helps us get used to the pressure when entering the exam room and overcome mistakes in the process of doing the test.”
At Nguyen Du Secondary School (Ha Tinh City), reviewing and preparing knowledge for 9th grade students is also a particularly important professional task for teachers. Currently, in addition to maintaining the main curriculum, the school also arranges a review plan in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training to consolidate knowledge for students.
Mr. Le Ngoc Anh - Principal of Nguyen Du Secondary School said: "In addition to regular teaching time, we also encourage teachers' volunteerism in supporting students' knowledge in 3 subjects: Math, Literature, English with a duration of 1 session (3 periods) per week/1 subject. At the same time, teachers have guided students in self-study and self-review methods. Thanks to that, in the mock exam held at the end of March, the quality of students has changed positively."
Compared to last year, the 10th grade entrance exam this year was held earlier. Opportunities are also more open when candidates can register up to 3 wishes for admission to non-specialized high schools (in previous years, each candidate could register up to 2 wishes). However, this is the first year the exam is implemented according to the new general education program, so schools strictly follow the instructions and directions of the industry.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hang - Principal of Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary School (Can Loc) said: "Immediately after the Department of Education and Training announced the sample exam, we organized a thorough study, closely following the exam structure to review for students. In addition to the common mock exam organized for all students, the school also assigned classes to organize mock exams for students with the same exam structure and time as the real exam so that students can practice and get familiar with exam-taking skills."
In just 2 months, the 10th grade entrance exam will take place. At this time, teachers have proactively adjusted their teaching methods, making the most of their time to support students in reviewing knowledge, practicing questions, and at the same time guiding them to develop their self-study ability to prepare for the exam.
Immediately after announcing English as the third subject in the 10th grade entrance exam, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training assigned the professional department and core teachers to research and build a question bank and illustrative questions to serve as materials for schools in the teaching and review process. Review must be appropriate for each group of students, in which, it is necessary to pay attention to helping weak students and enhancing self-study for good and excellent students.
