(Dan Tri) - In the past 2 weeks, many people have reported that they often receive fake calls from shippers with the purpose of defrauding and appropriating property.

Specifically, scammers will impersonate delivery staff of e-commerce platforms. Then, they will proactively call any victims and notify them about the delivery.

In case the recipient says they can receive the goods directly, the scammer will immediately hang up. The target of the scammer is the group of people who are often busy and cannot directly receive the goods.

Accordingly, the scammer will notify about the delivery and ask the victim to transfer a small amount of money, about 100,000-300,000 VND, to pay for the purchased order.

After sending the account number information, the scammer will continuously call the victim to urge them to transfer money as soon as possible. This is to distract the listener, making it difficult for the victim to remember what item they ordered.

With the amount of money required to transfer not being too large, many people will have a trusting mentality, not carefully checking the order information and easily falling into the trap of scammers.

"Early in the afternoon, I suddenly received a call from an unknown number. The caller said that they had delivered the goods and asked me to transfer money to receive the goods. At that time, because I was not home, I asked them to send the goods to the apartment's mailbox.

However, I suddenly remembered that I did not order any products. Out of suspicion, I checked the phone number on the Internet and discovered that it was a scam phone number," said Ms. Ngoc Mai, an office worker in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City.

In fact, this scam has been around for over a year, but has suddenly resurfaced in recent days. People need to be extremely vigilant, should not transfer money to strangers and need to verify information carefully before transferring money.
