Military forces support cleaning up houses after Duc Long Gia Lai bus station wall collapse
Hoi Phu Ward People's Committee has asked for support from the Defense Zone 3 unit and local forces to help overcome the incident after the wall of Duc Long Gia Lai bus station collapsed onto a resident's house.
Previously, in the early morning of July 24, a 44-meter long wall of Duc Long Gia Lai bus station collapsed onto the premises of house number 39/22 Ly Nam De street (Hoi Phu ward, Gia Lai).
This wall collapse did not cause any human casualties but damaged a lot of people's property.
Mr. Vu Manh Dinh, Chairman of Hoi Phu Ward People's Committee, said he planned to ask the military and militia to come earlier to help households affected after the wall of Duc Long bus station collapsed on their houses.
However, due to continued heavy rain and the damage assessment not yet completed, it had to be postponed until today, July 26.
The initial cause of the incident was determined to be the old and degraded wall of the building. In addition, the drainage system in the area was not guaranteed, so when the storm occurred, the 44m long wall collapsed.
In addition to the 44m collapsed location, there is also a 10m adjacent horizontal structure where the foundation of the structure is loosened, the tilted wall is at risk of collapsing onto the households below.
Immediately after the incident, the ward urgently directed to review and inspect the locations around the Duc Long bus station construction site.
For potentially dangerous locations, the ward immediately requires the authorities to mobilize households to move items out of dangerous locations.
Residents are asked to pay attention and monitor cracks in the house and suspicious noises. Local authorities also proactively request professional staff to coordinate with families to regularly check and prevent incidents.
