However, according to the latest information that Van Hoa Newspaper recorded from Vietnamese authorities, up to now, the Vietnam Olympic Committee and the Vietnam Sports Department have not received any official notice from Thailand regarding the adjustment of time, location or scale of the 33rd SEA Games.

As planned, the 33rd Southeast Asian Games will take place from December 9 to 20, 2025 in Thailand, bringing together the participation of 11 countries in the region.

The host country is still preparing for the 33rd SEA Games.

There will be a total of 66 sports and disciplines, with 585 events. The three host cities for the 33rd SEA Games are Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla – areas far from the border hotspot with Cambodia and completely out of the conflict zone.

Information from the home page of the host country's organizing committee said that preparations are still being carried out normally.

Although there are no signs that the 33rd SEA Games will be affected by border tensions, observers are still closely monitoring the situation in Surin and Sisaket provinces - where some clashes are taking place between the armed forces of Thailand and Cambodia.

However, with the considerable geographical distance between these hotspots and the three SEA Games host localities, the risk of direct impact on the Games is not high.

The fact that there has been no official warning from Thailand to ASEAN member countries is also a positive signal showing the host country’s proactiveness and good control of the situation. Sports delegations, including Vietnam, are still preparing their forces and plans to participate in the 33rd SEA Games as scheduled.

In the coming time, if there are any adjustments related to the schedule, location or scale of the 33rd SEA Games, the countries will certainly be notified by Thailand early to proactively respond.

Currently, preparations for the largest sports event in Southeast Asia at the end of 2025 are still taking place actively, synchronously and without signs of interruption.
