Mr. Nguyen Danh Thang - Chairman of the Board of Directors, representative of the leadership of Vietnam Feature Film Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (Vietnam Feature Film Studio) - had a working session with 20 artists, officers and employees to resolve outstanding problems at the film studio on November 12.
At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Danh Thang affirmed that he will learn from experience in behavioral culture and management because this is a special enterprise operating in the arts.
Mr. Nguyen Danh Thang - Chairman of the Board of Directors, representative of the leadership of Vietnam Feature Film Investment and Development Joint Stock Company (Vietnam Feature Film Studio) - said that the company decided to restore production and business activities.
The company representative also added that it is unknown when the procedures for strategic investors to divest will be completed because there is currently no legal corridor.
"After many years of waiting, the authorities have not yet had a plan for the strategic investor to divest, while the enterprise still has to maintain all operations and pay annual land rent to the state. Therefore, the company decided to restore production and business activities," Mr. Nguyen Danh Thang told Tien Phong.
Previously, Vietnam Feature Film Studio became deserted after a long period of disuse.
At the meeting, the artists also expressed their desire and aspiration to work, to contribute to art, and to work at a company with a long tradition of being the leading force in the country's cinema industry.
At the meeting, 18/20 employees proposed that the company pay insurance for employees starting at the level they are currently receiving, support those whose salaries have been cut, and provide insurance for 2 months of salary each year, with the amount of support equal to the salary each individual was receiving before the insurance was cut, and the support amount can be divided into several installments, with the support period lasting one year.
The history of Vietnam Feature Film Studio is closely associated with revolutionary and artistic films.
Workers also recommended that the company ensure a minimum salary regime for employees for 12 months, and adjust after 12 months or according to the actual situation of the company. At the same time, the company needs to provide a roadmap for building and developing the company, with a minimum period of 5 years.
2/20 people requested the company to refund salaries, insurance, etc. to employees during the time the company could not create jobs and employees had their salaries and insurance cut.

Any agreement between the company and the employee must be witnessed by a third party, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The company representative fully agrees that if there is consensus from the employee, the insurance regime for the employee will be resumed, and support regimes will be considered when the company resumes operations and has revenue.
However, it is unreasonable for employees to expect the company to support 2 months of salary/year when the company has not produced films and employees have not worked in the past few years. Therefore, this meeting has not yet reached an agreement.
