From October 3rd to 4th, in Can Tho City, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4, in coordination with the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Can Tho City Party Committee and the Can Tho City Department of Education and Training, organized the program "Coast Guard Accompanying Fishermen" in Nhon My commune and the "I Love My Homeland's Sea and Islands" competition in Vinh Chau commune. These are two very meaningful activities of the Command of Coast Guard Region 4, marking its first visit to the newly merged Can Tho City after the merger of Can Tho City, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang.

The "I Love My Homeland's Seas and Islands" contest was held enthusiastically at the People's Committee of Vinh Chau commune.
The program included meaningful activities such as: disseminating legal information to over 200 officials and citizens; distributing over 1,000 leaflets, 200 informational handbooks, 150 legal books; donating 500 national flags, 50 portraits of President Ho Chi Minh, and 100 gift packages (each worth 1,000,000 VND) to policy beneficiary families in the area.

Officers from the Coast Guard Region 4 Command distributed informational leaflets to local fishermen.

Representatives from the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 presented gifts to families entitled to preferential policies in Nhon My commune.
This contributes to raising public awareness of maritime sovereignty and regulations on preventing illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing; strengthening military-civilian solidarity; and building a solid national defense and people's security posture at sea.
The highlight of this event was the "I Love My Homeland's Seas and Islands" competition in Can Tho City, with the participation of 100 outstanding students. The competition consisted of two rounds: an online round held from September 17th to September 21st, which attracted over 10,300 registrations; and a lively in-person round held at the Vinh Chau Commune People's Committee hall.
The competition aims to widely disseminate knowledge about the history of nation-building and national defense of the Vietnamese people, the traditions of the People's Army and the Vietnam Coast Guard, and the traditions of localities in the cause of national construction and protection; legal regulations on the sea and islands of Vietnam and internationally; and knowledge about drug prevention and control, school violence, etc.

Colonel Nguyen Thai Duong delivered the opening speech for the "I Love My Homeland's Seas and Islands" competition.
Speaking at the competition, Colonel Nguyen Thai Duong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Deputy Political Commissar of the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 - emphasized: "Today's competition is not only an opportunity for us to raise awareness of the strategic role and position of the sea and islands in the cause of national construction and defense, but also a useful and interesting playground for students to express their love for their homeland, especially for the sacred sea and islands. Through this competition, we hope to awaken in each student a sense of pride and responsibility of the younger generation in protecting maritime sovereignty and maintaining security and order at sea."

Representatives of students from disadvantaged backgrounds received support in the form of 80 scholarships.

Colonel Nguyen Thai Duong and Mr. Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City, presented the first prize to Thach Hoang Nam.
