Comrade Nguyen Quoc Tien, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, led the Ca Mau provincial delegation to attend the 2024 Conference on Propaganda about Vietnam's Seas and Islands.
Presenting thematic reports at the conference were speakers from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Naval Command. Accordingly, delegates heard information and exchanged views on: the work of protecting Vietnam's maritime sovereignty and islands on the political and diplomatic fronts in the past period; the situation and results of combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing in the past period; the recent situation in the East Sea, forecasts, and directions and tasks for protecting maritime sovereignty and islands in the future.
Comrade Nguyen Khac Toan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Khanh Hoa, delivered a welcoming speech to the delegates attending the conference.
In the new context, the Party's foreign affairs, State diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy continue to be maintained and strengthened; the prestige and position of our country are constantly rising. Hostile forces continue to exploit issues of national sovereignty, borders, seas, islands, ethnicity, and religion to spread distorted and fabricated propaganda to undermine the Vietnamese Party and State; and to sow discord in the traditional friendship between Vietnam and its neighbors. Therefore, strengthening and improving the effectiveness of propaganda work on Vietnam's seas and islands is an extremely important task that must be thoroughly understood and resolutely and persistently implemented with the consensus and unity of the entire Party, the entire political system, and the entire society.
The Party and State of Vietnam have always affirmed that the sea and islands are a sacred part of our territory, an inseparable part of our flesh and blood, and hold a particularly important position in the cause of national construction and development, possessing immense strategic value in economics, politics, society, national defense, and security. Propaganda work regarding the sea and islands is a long-term, regular, and continuous task of the entire political system. Therefore, raising public awareness of the role and importance of the sea and islands is extremely necessary. In recent years, propaganda work on the sea and islands has achieved great results, making a significant contribution to raising public awareness and love for the sea and islands, and motivating the forces currently managing and protecting the sovereignty of the Fatherland's sea and islands.
Comrade Nguyen Minh Vu, Alternate Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Chairman of the National Border Committee, provided information on the work of protecting Vietnam's maritime and island sovereignty on the political and diplomatic fronts in the recent past.
In this context, to further build upon the achievements already made, to improve the quality and effectiveness of coordinated propaganda on maritime and island issues, and to promote the initiative, creativity, and flexibility of forces involved in maritime and island propaganda, all levels, sectors, and localities need to continue to thoroughly understand the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party; Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW, dated October 22, 2018, of the 12th Central Committee of the Party on "The Strategy for Sustainable Development of Vietnam's Marine Economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045"; Resolution No. 44-NQ/TW, dated November 24, 2023, of the 13th Central Committee of the Party on "The Strategy for National Defense in the New Situation"; and the National Assembly's Resolution on "National Marine Spatial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050". The Party and State's directives and regulations aim to raise awareness and create consensus among all segments of the population regarding the task of protecting maritime and island sovereignty.
The conference provides an opportunity for speakers and delegates to meet, exchange, and share best practices and valuable experiences in the work of disseminating information and protecting Vietnam's maritime sovereignty and islands in the new context.
In recent times, Ca Mau province has focused on promoting the protection of its maritime sovereignty and islands through appropriate methods, yielding tangible results.
