Free eye surgery for 150 underprivileged people.

On the morning of May 30th, Dam Doi General Hospital, Ca Mau Provincial Eye and Dermatology Hospital, in coordination with Le Van Thinh Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City), organized a free cataract surgery program for 150 disadvantaged people in Dam Doi commune and neighboring communes.

Speaking at the program, Comrade Nguyen Minh Luan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, expressed his deep gratitude to the team of doctors and nurses at Le Van Thinh Hospital for their support in carrying out the free eye surgery program. This is an activity with profound humanitarian significance, contributing to the local efforts to care for the health of the people.

Every year, the Ca Mau Provincial Eye and Dermatology Hospital performs cataract surgery on more than 6,000 cases, but the demand for treatment among the population remains very high, especially for disadvantaged families.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan expressed his hope that in the future, Le Van Thinh Hospital will continue to cooperate with and support Ca Mau province in organizing more free eye surgery programs in other localities in the province, helping people receive treatment and restore their eyesight.

Distinguished Physician, Dr. Tran Van Khanh, Director of Le Van Thinh Hospital, affirmed: The unit will continue to closely cooperate with Ca Mau to implement more practical charitable activities, aiming to improve the quality of healthcare for the people, especially vulnerable groups in society.

As one of the patients receiving support in this round, Mr. Tran Van Hau (Phu Quy hamlet, Thanh Tung commune) emotionally shared: “My eyesight has been blurry for a long time, making daily life and work difficult, but due to my limited financial resources, I haven't had the opportunity to seek treatment. Thanks to the concern of the local authorities and the doctors, I received free eye surgery, and I am very happy and grateful.”

Alongside the eye surgery program, on the morning of May 30th, Dam Doi commune also organized the third health check-up and screening program for residents at the commune's health station. With the support of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy and MEDIC Thanh Vu Hospital in Ca Mau, the program is expected to run until June 1st, completing health screenings for 1,000 residents in the area.
