On the morning of May 22nd, An Giang province and the Phu Quoc special economic zone launched a large-scale, decisive enforcement operation, officially recovering over 15,000 square meters of public and national defense land that had been illegally occupied.

The "mansion" built on public land in Phu Quoc once caused public outrage.
The focus of attention is the plot of land measuring over 15,690 m2 that Mr. Vo Tan T. has brazenly occupied, causing public outrage for a long time.
Here, Mr. T. demolished the old structure to plant trees and build a solid complex of buildings in the form of a "mansion".
Of the total occupied area, nearly 4,800 m² is state-managed land and more than 10,900 m² is land managed by the 5th Naval Region Command.
Notably, the authorities of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone have repeatedly issued enforcement orders; however, due to the complexity of the case and practical obstacles at the site, previous enforcement efforts have been unsuccessful. This delay has further fueled public demand for a strong and decisive measure from the government to protect the sanctity of land law.

The police force deployed a plan to ensure security and order during the enforcement operation.
Despite the determination of the authorities in the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone, and even though Mr. T. had voluntarily dismantled and moved his belongings and valuable assets out of his "mansion" overnight just before the official enforcement order took effect, he still refused to voluntarily return the land to the state and the 5th Naval Region for management.

Authorities read out the demolition order for the "mansion".
Therefore, the local authorities and relevant units were forced to carry out the enforcement action immediately on the morning of May 22nd.
In parallel with the enforcement action against Mr. T., the local authorities also carried out compulsory enforcement against 18 households in the Phu Quoc special economic zone who had illegally occupied and constructed buildings totaling more than 7,840 square meters .

The owner of the "mansion" illegally occupied nearly 4,800 m² of state-managed land and more than 10,900 m² of land managed by the 5th Naval Region Command.
In addition, the households were also required to return the illegally obtained profits totaling 20 million VND as stipulated by regulations.

The enforcement action strongly affirms the Phu Quoc authorities' determination in managing land and construction on the island, reinforcing absolute trust among the people.
Previously, on May 20th, the People's Committee of An Giang province and the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone enforced the removal of four individuals who had arbitrarily erected concrete pillars, constructed buildings, and planted trees illegally on land managed by the state and Phu Quoc National Park. The total area of public land reclaimed in this operation amounted to 46,000 m² .

On May 21st, in the Rach Tram area of Bai Thom commune, the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone authorities continued their crackdown on 8 households with serious violations, recovering over 39,400 m² of special-use forest land and state-managed land. This area, under the management of Phu Quoc National Park and the Phu Quoc Economic Zone Management Board, had been brazenly occupied and illegally claimed by individuals.
According to a leader of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee, the successful implementation of the enforcement decisions is a strong affirmation of the Phu Quoc government's determination in managing land and construction on the island, reinforcing absolute trust among the people.
