According to Nigerian media, Victor Udoh, a former Southampton academy player and former Royal Antwerp player, was found dead in Abuja, the Nigerian capital. Local police suspect the cause of death was food poisoning following an outing with friends.

Udoh joined Southampton's academy in 2025 after transferring from Antwerp. The Nigerian forward spent about seven months with the English club, playing for the youth team, but never made his first-team debut before leaving the club.

After parting ways with Southampton by mutual agreement, Udoh moved to the Czech Republic to join Dynamo Ceske Budejovice, a team playing in the second division. This is seen as a move to help the young striker seek more playing opportunities and develop his career in Europe.

Previously, Udoh was discovered by Antwerp while playing for Hypebuzz FC in Abuja. Joining the Belgian team at the age of 18, he quickly impressed with his goal-scoring ability.

The striker scored 12 goals in 21 appearances for Antwerp's youth team, a performance that earned him a promotion to the first team. Udoh made his professional debut at the age of 19 before moving to England to play.

After the news was confirmed, both Southampton and Royal Antwerp posted messages of condolence to the young player's family and friends.
