Former Democratic congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has announced her support for former President Donald Trump in this year's US presidential election.

Ms. Tulsi Gabbard (43 years old) was a Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, who ran for US president in 2020. In 2022, she announced that she was leaving the party to become an independent politician , accusing the party of being "an elite group of warmongers", according to Fox News. "I am proud to stand before you here today. The former Democratic congressman said Mr. Trump understands the responsibility of a commander in chief for the lives of the people.

“We saw this throughout his first term as president, where he not only did not start any new wars, but he took action to de-escalate and prevent wars,” Gabbard said.

The former congressman said that Mr. Trump considered war as the last option while Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate, did not.

Ms Gabbard believes that Mr Trump's first task in a second term if re-elected will be to bring the country back from the brink of war.

Ms. Gabbard said she is helping Mr. Trump prepare for the scheduled debate with Ms. Harris on September 10.
