According to BBC and DW, a court in Paris on Wednesday rejected former French President Sarkozy's appeal, leaving him facing a three-year prison sentence, including two years suspended, for corruption.

The court upheld Mr Sarkozy's ban from public office and suspended prison sentence, but ruled that he could wear an electronic tag and be placed under house arrest, rather than serving the remainder of his sentence.
The former French president was convicted in 2021 of trying to influence a judge by offering him a bribe under the guise of a prestigious job in exchange for information about an investigation into alleged financial wrongdoing in Mr Sarkozy's party.
The judge, Gilbert Azibert, was promised a highly paid legal adviser role in Monaco by Mr Sarkozy.
The former president was indicted based on conversations he had with his former lawyer, Thierry Herzog, in 2013-2014.
