Dang Thi Hong is still involved in volleyball in another role.

On September 11, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) decided to ban athlete Dang Thi Hong from competing after receiving notice from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). This decision takes effect immediately and means that she will not be able to participate in the second phase of the 2025 National Championship (starting in October 2025) as well as other tournaments in the VFV system.

With this ban, Dang Thi Hong's peak playing career officially ended. She will retire at the age of 19. However, instead of giving up volleyball, she has been oriented for the future. VFV will create conditions for Dang Thi Hong to study at Bac Ninh University of Sports and Physical Education, and later can become a coach if she really wants to and strives her best.

It would be a good future for Dang Thi Hong if she returned to her home team Thai Nguyen as an assistant coach. This is considered a reasonable move, allowing her to continue to stick with and contribute to the sport that has accompanied her for many years.

It is not uncommon in professional sports for an athlete to move into coaching after retirement.
