On the day he finalized the contract termination procedures with Da Nang FC, striker Ha Minh Tuan expressed his gratitude and thanks before announcing his retirement from professional football.
"It is I who should be saying thank you, not Da Nang Club. Da Nang is the club that nurtured me, providing me with food and shelter. I remember and am grateful, but what I have contributed cannot compare to what Da Nang Club has given me," Ha Minh Tuan wrote.
The play-off match against Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc FC on June 29th was his last professional appearance for Da Nang FC. Ha Minh Tuan played 14 matches, starting 2 and scoring 1 goal.
The striker, born in 1991, is about to turn 35 and is aware of the decline in his career. Ha Minh Tuan has won two V-League championships with Da Nang FC in 2012 and Quang Nam FC in 2017.
Having risen through the ranks of the Han River team, Ha Minh Tuan spent 15 years playing professionally, only for Da Nang and Quang Nam. As for the Vietnamese national team, he only joined the training camp twice and left early both times.
In 2013, Ha Minh Tuan was called up to the national team to prepare for the match against Hong Kong (China) in the Asian Cup qualifiers. Six years later, coach Park Hang Seo called up Ha Minh Tuan for the match against Thailand in the second round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. On both occasions, the striker from Quang Nam province suffered injuries.
Ha Minh Tuan was often referred to as "the successor to Le Huynh Duc," a source of both pride and pressure throughout his decade of professional competition. He was unable to live up to the standards of his idol.
