Many advantages
In the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop, Mr. Pham Van Trong's family in An Dinh village, Chi Minh commune planted 5 hectares of CXT30 rice in the field of rươi and cay exploitation outside the Thai Binh river dike by direct sowing. Less than 100 days after sowing, CXT30 rice was harvested, with an average yield of 239 kg/sao, the highest ever (only calculated in the area outside the dike).
CXT30 rice has been tested in Chi Minh commune on some areas of rice-worm farming many years ago, but this is the first crop that Mr. Trong's family has planted. Mr. Trong is very satisfied because from sowing to harvesting, his family only has to spend a little effort on pruning, and does not have to apply any nitrogen fertilizer.
Because he has to ensure a clean environment for the worms and clams to grow, Mr. Trong does not spray pesticides on the rice. However, this rice variety grows strongly and is very resistant to pests and diseases. Therefore, his family saves maximum costs and labor, the rice yield is still high and very suitable for the area where the worms and clams are harvested.
According to Mr. Pham Xuan Luan, Director of An Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative (Chi Minh commune), this crop, compared to some rice varieties that have been widely planted in areas where rươi and cay are exploited in combination such as J02 and ST25, CXT30 rice grows and develops more healthily and has a higher yield.
The growth period of CXT30 rice is extremely short, only about 95 days, 5-10 days shorter than other varieties, so harvesting is earlier, avoiding small floods that can affect productivity. After several trials with positive results, the cooperative plans to encourage farmers to widely propagate this rice variety in the coming years.

Reporters' investigation shows that in the 2024 - 2025 winter-spring crop, CXT30 rice will continue to be planted and tested in some areas of rươi exploitation in Kien Hung and Nghi Duong communes (formerly Tan Trao and Ngu Phuc communes of the old Kien Thuy district), Vinh Bao and Vinh Thuan communes (formerly Tan Lien and Vinh An communes of the old Vinh Bao district).
Some farmers in Vinh Bao commune who participated in the trial planting of CXT 30 rice in the two recent winter-spring rice crops said that the characteristics of this rice variety are very strong and fast tillering, large bushes, strong plants, wide coverage, reducing the heat on the surface of the field. The large stubble and high humus content make the soil more porous, good for the growth of the earthworms, increasing productivity.
The outstanding advantage of the CXT30 rice variety is that even without spraying pesticides, it still grows healthily and produces good yields. This is completely suitable for exploiting natural specialties that only prefer clean environments and also meets farmers' expectations of rice yield.
Production Link

In the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop, CXT30 rice is sold by farmers in some localities in Hai Phong City at a price of 10,000 - 10,500 VND/kg of fresh paddy, equal to that of some high-quality rice varieties. Superior in yield, the quality of CXT30 rice grown in the area of rice-worm exploitation is delicious and not inferior to other high-quality varieties.
At the end of June, Dr. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Chairwoman of Vietnam Clean Agriculture and Industry Corporation (co-author of the CXT30 rice variety) brought a number of scientists and businesses to some rice-worm farming areas in Hai Phong to review, evaluate, and coordinate on a production linkage program in the coming time.
"Hai Phong has thousands of hectares of land for exploiting earthworms and crabs. CXT30 with its proven advantages, if widely replicated, will contribute to maintaining sustainable exploitation of natural specialty exploitation areas, increasing production value. We are ready to invite parties to participate in the closed chain from seed supply, technology transfer to supporting farmers in consuming rice after harvest," said Ms. Tuyet.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hai Phong City Luong Thi Kiem said that she will research the CXT30 rice variety to make appropriate proposals in the near future.
The CXT30 rice variety was successfully selected and created by the late Associate Professor, Dr. Ta Minh Son, former Deputy Director of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and Dr. Nguyen Thi Tuyet in 2010, and tested a year later. The growth period of this rice variety is from 93 to 95 days, and can be cultivated on all types of land from highlands, lowlands, acidic and saline soils, suitable for organic rice growing areas combined with the exploitation of natural specialties such as earthworms and crabs.
The rice yield is quite high, the grain is long, the rice quality is delicious. Up to now, this rice variety has been applied in dozens of provinces and cities.
