| In the first three months of 2026, the province's tourist areas and attractions welcomed over 2.6 million visitors. |
In recent years, Thai Nguyen has focused more on exploiting and developing its unique tourism products. One of the prominent directions is the development of community-based tourism associated with tea culture. Many community-based tourism models have been formed and are operating effectively, contributing to the dissemination of local cultural values and increasing income for the people.
In terms of tourism product development, the province has a significant advantage over neighboring provinces: it serves as a gateway from Hanoi to the northeastern provinces. Furthermore, the province boasts a special national historical site stretching from Dinh Hoa commune to Cho Don commune, including the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House, Phong Tuong Hill, and numerous other relics marking the historical milestones of the country's resistance war. On average, nearly 80,000 visitors annually come to offer incense at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House in the ATK Dinh Hoa special national historical site.
One unique aspect is that the province boasts several one-of-a-kind landmarks and tourist areas. For example, Ba Be Lake (Ba Be commune) is the largest freshwater lake in Vietnam and one of the 100 largest lakes in the world. Thai Nguyen tea has been honored as Vietnam's "Number One Famous Tea" for centuries. The Ancient Human Cave in Than Sa commune is home to prehistoric people who lived there over 41,500 years ago. The Thai Hai Stilt House Village Ecotourism Reserve was awarded the title of "Best Tourist Village in the World" by the UNWTO in 2022 – the only representative from Southeast Asia.

In tourism development, the province always encourages and motivates businesses and destinations to expand cooperation and create many unique and innovative products. For example, in the "Four Great Tea Regions" – Tan Cuong commune; La Bang commune; Khe Coc, Vo Tranh commune; and Trai Cai, Dong Hy commune – tourists can experience the traditional process of planting, caring for, harvesting, and processing tea alongside farmers. Each farmer is an ambassador of tea culture. Particularly in Tan Cuong commune, the Tea Culture Space preserves and displays dozens of antique tea sets, where tourists can enjoy tea and listen to stories about tea.
Also located in Tan Cuong commune is another nationally renowned destination: the Thai Hai Ethnic Ecological Stilt House Village Conservation Area, featuring over 30 ancient stilt houses. The villagers recreate some unique traditional cultural rituals, and their daily lives and activities reflect the authentic lifestyle of the Tay ethnic group in Northern Vietnam, creating a distinct attraction.
Homestay models in the province's tourist areas and destinations are increasingly developing, attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists. Alongside this, cultural, spiritual, historical, and heritage tourism continues to affirm its position as one of Thai Nguyen's distinctive strengths. Tours and routes to national historical sites are increasingly popular choices for tourists during their holidays.
Amidst increasingly diverse tourism demands, Thai Nguyen province is actively developing new products such as MICE tourism and adventurous cave exploration tourism. With the right direction and innovative approaches, Thai Nguyen province's tourism industry is gradually asserting its position on the national tourism map.
