Da Lat – A miniature Paris

Việt NamViệt Nam15/03/2024

Located on the Lam Vien plateau at an altitude of 1,500m above sea level, Da Lat city possesses a dreamy, elegant beauty, sometimes bursting with the fragrance of thousands of flowers, other times shrouded in a dreamy mist. Da Lat is like a miniature Paris with its centuries-old French architectural structures. This was the first and most complete resort built by the French in Vietnam, planned in the first half of the 19th century, and was once the largest resort in Indochina.

Beauty scene

Prenn Pass : Traveling along the winding Prenn Pass, flanked by lush green pine forests, you'll see playful sunlight filtering through the leaves, touching your shoulders and hair. The wind will playfully sing its song of the forest, harmonizing with the melodious chirping of birds. Crossing Prenn Pass will take you to the city center. From here, you can plan a trip to Lang Biang Mountain, Cu Lan Village, strawberry gardens, the Valley of Love, Cau Dat tea plantations, Datanla Waterfall, Pongour Waterfall, and the pine forest to fully explore the stunning natural beauty. The Lonely Pine Tree : You can check in with the "lonely pine tree" on Thien Phuc Hill or by Dan Kia - Suoi Vang Lake. These are just ordinary pine trees growing alone, but they attract many couples, not only because of the romantic scenery but also because of the curious rumor that couples who visit here will break up. Old French architectural works : A must-see when visiting Da Lat is the unique French architectural works that have become heritage sites here. The Chicken Church, Da Lat Teacher Training College, Da Lat Railway Station, Bao Dai Palace – each building boasts distinctive architecture linked to fascinating historical stories. Da Lat Railway Station : Da Lat Railway Station is the oldest surviving railway station in Indochina, possessing a unique beauty combining French architectural art with the style of the Central Highlands' longhouse roofs. Old French villas : Hidden amidst the city, nestled under the deep green pine forests, are thousands of old villas from the former resort area, still retaining the French architectural features in every brick, tile, and window.

Cuisine

Da Lat's cuisine is famous for its street food stalls and unique night market culture. Banh can (rice flour pancakes), banh uot (steamed rice rolls with chicken offal), avocado ice cream, grilled rice paper, artichoke soup with pork trotters, Da Lat vegetable hot pot, and Da Lat sturgeon hot pot are specialties you absolutely must try when you visit. In the cool, sometimes chilly weather, strolling through the streets and savoring these delicious treats, experiencing their rich, savory, creamy, sweet, and nutty flavors, is truly wonderful. With its cool climate, Da Lat is a land of fruits, especially strawberries. When you come here, you must buy a few baskets of strawberries as gifts for family and friends. The glossy, smooth red strawberries are inviting and alluring, captivating even the most discerning palates. From strawberries, the people of Da Lat also create countless delicious dishes such as strawberry jam, strawberry ice cream, and strawberry shakes to satisfy every diner's craving. Activities: Amidst the beautiful and majestic nature of the Lam Vien plateau, you can experience many adventurous and outdoor activities such as zip-lining across Datanla waterfall, conquering Lang Biang peak, camping in Cu Lan village… Moments of shouting together in front of the cascading waterfall, jumping for joy after conquering the mountain peak, or gathering around the campsite to chat and joke will dispel all the fatigue of everyday life, bringing you moments of peace and relaxation. If you visit Da Lat at the end of the year, you can also immerse yourself in the vibrant and lively atmosphere of the Da Lat Flower Festival. The festival takes place every two years around Xuan Huong Lake, displaying thousands of types of flowers from many regions of the country and some neighboring countries, along with many special activities such as: street flower parades, mass weddings, wine festivals...
