DNO - On the morning of November 28, receiving the Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Vietnam, Shantanu Chakraborty, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh proposed that ADB continue to support the city with ODA loans guaranteed by the Government so that Da Nang can develop its socio -economy to become a large urban area, a center for startups and innovation at the regional level in Asia.

Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh introduced the city's potential, advantages, and development orientation in the coming time and asked ADB to continue supporting the city's development in three areas.
Firstly, support and cooperate with Da Nang in innovation in the banking sector; especially support the city with ODA loans guaranteed by the Government so that Da Nang can continue to develop its socio-economy, become a large urban area, a center for startups, innovation and a livable coastal city reaching the level of the Asian region by 2045.
Second, propose ADB to finance projects for the city on climate change response and natural risk management and mitigation because Da Nang is one of the localities heavily affected by climate change.
Third, support the city's business community in promoting start-up activities, innovation, improving labor productivity and competitiveness.
In addition, the Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that ADB will coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to train the city's leadership team to improve leadership and management skills in directing the city's socio-economic development.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee highly appreciated and thanked ADB for its support and cooperation with Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular in the past time and hoped that during his term in Vietnam, Mr. Shantanu Chakraborty would continue to develop this good relationship.
Mr. Shantanu Chakraborty acknowledged that Da Nang is a young, dynamic and modern city, the economic center of the Central Highlands region, with many advantages in attracting FDI capital.
At the same time, ADB's upcoming goal is to support Da Nang city in responding to climate change towards developing green economic growth.
In particular, ADB coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to organize a workshop on "Future thinking and foresight" for leaders of the central provinces of Vietnam held in Da Nang (November 29, 2023).
The workshop aims to improve the management and operational capacity of leaders in the socio-economic development of Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular in the coming time.
Mr. Shantanu Chakraborty said that the two sides have had a very good cooperative relationship in recent times and affirmed that they will support Da Nang in areas of mutual interest.
This re-establishment of cooperation with Da Nang marks 30 years of cooperation between ADB and Vietnam and ADB and Da Nang.
