(CLO) On the evening of November 1, 2024, in Hanoi , the Hanoi Open Theater Festival - 2024 opened, gathering more than 800 artists with 12 plays by 12 Central and Hanoi art units in the capital and some representatives of neighboring provinces and cities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, emphasized that the Hanoi Open Stage Festival - 2024 is an event organized by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association in coordination with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports , on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).

According to People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, the Hanoi Open Theater Festival - 2024 will have 12 plays of various types of theater: tuong, cheo, cai luong, drama, puppetry... by 12 art units from the Central, the Army, Hanoi and some neighboring provinces and cities such as Bac Giang and Hai Phong.
This is an opportunity to enhance the cultural and artistic values of the Capital; educate and promote the patriotic tradition, the glorious revolutionary tradition of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Hanoi throughout the journey of fighting, building and developing the Heroic Capital, City for Peace.
“This is also an opportunity for Hanoi to create conditions for performing arts units and artists nationwide to exchange and learn about academics and artistic creativity skills, to constantly improve professional qualifications, create works of high ideological value and artistic quality, and meet the expectations of audiences in the trend of integration and development,” People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui emphasized.
At the event, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Pham Xuan Tai said that over the years, Hanoi has focused on investing and creating mechanisms for artists to freely create. The city has been and is a typical bright spot in the field of theater nationwide.
According to Mr. Tai, the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism's coordination with the Vietnam Stage Artists Association in organizing the Hanoi Stage Festival, held every two years, continues to affirm the city's development goals and viewpoints: Culture is the foundation and driving force for development; valuing cultural values and caring for people's spiritual lives is the top priority.
"The Hanoi Stage Festival has been held for the 6th time, gradually shaping the art brand of the capital Hanoi. This is not only a stage for artists to compete, but also an opportunity for professional art units of the Central Government, armed forces in Hanoi and some localities across the country to introduce to the people of the capital their achievements in performing arts" - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Pham Xuan Tai affirmed.

The Hanoi Open Theatre Festival – 2024 will take place from November 1 to 9, with 12 works performed for free at many locations in the capital. Each art unit will participate in 1 play with a duration of 90 to 150 minutes.
The works participating in the festival all have clear themes, ideas, and content; vividly reflecting all aspects of social life, the country, and the people of Vietnam. Many works have content related to places, history, culture, and people of Hanoi in the past and present; promote beauty and humanistic values; condemn ugliness, evil, and meanness; have a positive impact on social life, clearly demonstrating the functions, awareness, education, and aesthetics in the works.
After the opening ceremony, Hanoi Drama Theater performed the play "Space".
