Ministry of Defense supports Vietnam - Thailand naval cooperation

On July 15, in Hanoi, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy Minister of National Defense , received Admiral Jirapol Wongwit, Commander of the Royal Thai Navy.

At the reception, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien welcomed the delegation's visit to Vietnam, saying that this was an activity to implement the results of the official visit to Vietnam in early July 2025 by the Commander of the Thai Defense Forces.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien affirmed that Vietnam always values and wishes to strengthen the good friendship and cooperation with Thailand.

Over the past time, the Vietnam-Thailand defense cooperation has developed positively, reliably, and prominently in the following areas: exchanging delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations; effectively maintaining the defense policy dialogue mechanism, exchanging young officers; cooperation between military branches and services; training; closely coordinating and supporting each other at multilateral forums and mechanisms led by ASEAN.

Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien suggested that the two countries' naval forces continue to coordinate closely, promote activities to enhance mutual understanding and trust, focusing on bilateral naval consultations, delegation exchanges at all levels, and training.

Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense supports cooperation between the two countries' navies; hopes that both sides will strengthen cooperation, contribute to building each country's defense, and contribute to the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand.

Admiral Jirapol Wongwit emphasized that this visit demonstrates the deep affection between the two countries' armies, in the context of increasingly positive development of defense cooperation.

Admiral Jirapol Wongwit highly appreciated the results of naval cooperation between the two countries in recent times, focusing on areas such as joint patrols and delegation exchanges.

The Commander of the Royal Thai Navy hopes that Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Hien will continue to pay attention to the increasingly strong relationship between the two countries' armies, especially between the two naval forces.
