Canadian Teacher Phuong Hong Le - Rosie: "Success is not only for geniuses or lucky people, but for those who never give up"

There are dreams that we have to put aside because of worries, responsibilities, or a loving but also heavy advice from our parents. For Phuong Hong Le (Rosie), a female Master of Education in Leadership in Learning and Inclusive Education in Canada, that dream was once delayed by the word "duty". But it is that never-ending flame that has created an extraordinary journey, an inspiring story of effort and perseverance.

The Dream Put Away and the Promise of a Good Daughter

Born into an ordinary family in My Tho, with an office worker father and a kindergarten teacher mother, Rosie deeply understands the sacrifices of her parents. A major family incident when she was young taught her a lesson about self-reliance and the value of a righteous path. From that foundation, Rosie has made tireless efforts in studying.

The foundation from prestigious schools such as Hong Bang Specialized Secondary School and Nguyen Thuong Hien Specialized High School has forged her with iron discipline and the will to excel. The achievements of 12 consecutive years of being an excellent student are not only certificates of merit, but also proof of a persistent process.

However, the dream of studying abroad that had been nurtured since grade 11 did not come true. "Back then, when I saw my best friend going to America, I also begged my father." But my father just gently said: "A girl going alone, I was afraid you would have a hard time," Rosie recalled.

Listening to her father, the young girl temporarily put her dream aside. She struggled to find her own path. Although her B-group exam score was enough to be admitted to the University of Medicine, she felt that the hospital environment was not suitable for her. She chose Biology at the National University, but then realized that she could not stick with research work in the laboratory. In the end, it was her love for teaching that brought her to the University of Foreign Languages.

With extraordinary efforts, she completed her studies with 3 Bachelor's degrees and many National and International certificates - as a way to "show filial piety". Then when her parents wanted her to "settle down", she also got married and had children.

The flame never goes out

Although life is stable, Rosie's passion for studying abroad has never cooled down. Admission emails from international schools and success stories from friends abroad have constantly motivated her. "I saw my friends with houses, cars, and happy families abroad. I realized that my dream could still come true as long as I kept trying," Rosie shared.

And then she realized that the most perfect way to show filial piety was not to live a contented life to please her parents, but to live a truly happy life and become their pride. She decided to go, not alone, but with her whole family.

Success from extraordinary efforts on Canadian soil

Starting over in a new country is never easy. Rosie chose to study Tourism and Hospitality Management with the realistic hope of finding a job and settling down. Her major required her to complete a large number of mandatory internship hours in order to graduate. As a result, there was a period when she worked up to 60-80 hours a week at 3 different companies.

It was the diligence honed from the Vietnamese educational environment that helped her reap the rewards. "I am extremely grateful to the teachers in Vietnam. Their strictness and dedication have forged me with iron discipline," Rosie affirmed.

And the miracle happened. She was awarded a Permanent Teachers' License level 5/6 by the Canadian Ministry of Education and Training . Soon after, she was accepted and signed a full-time contract with the Canadian Public School System for 3 years and was elected to the Federation of Teachers. After 3 years of tireless dedication, she was officially appointed to the staff and has continued teaching for the past 2 years.

In addition, she was sponsored by the Canadian government to study for a Master's and PhD with a 100% scholarship, and excellently graduated with a Master's in Education with an A+ grade. At the same time, her Teaching Certificate was upgraded to level 6/6.

The one who inspires the younger generation

From her own journey, Rosie understands the difficulties and aspirations of young Vietnamese people. She realizes that the young generation in Vietnam is fully capable of reaching out to the world, sometimes the barrier is just a lack of information and a reliable guide.

"My journey has no special starting point or support. It all comes from constant efforts. I want to send a message to young people: Never give up on your dreams just because of the obstacles in front of you. Perseverance and hard work are the most valuable tickets that can take you anywhere," Rosie shared.
