From now until the end of December 2025, Viettel Group continues to aim to exceed its commitment, installing 23,500 new base stations, nearly four times the number of stations installed in 2024.
In early 2025, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 193/2025/QH15 dated February 19, 2025, on piloting a number of special mechanisms and policies to create breakthroughs in the development of science , technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. According to detailed guidance in Government Decree No. 88/2025/ND-CP, the state will support businesses in deploying nationwide 5G network infrastructure if a minimum of 20,000 5G base stations are completed and put into operation between February 19 and December 31, 2025.
This is a special policy aimed at creating a breakthrough in national digital transformation, achieving the goal of advanced and modern digital technology infrastructure and nationwide 5G coverage by 2030 as stipulated in Resolution 57-NQ/TW.
Superior coverage
With this new deployment, Viettel will own the largest 5G network in Vietnam with a cumulative total of 30,000 base stations, providing 5G coverage to 90% of outdoor areas and 70% of indoor areas nationwide, including both urban and rural regions.
"Resolution 57 of the Politburo, with its focus on promoting breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation, has created a strong impetus for Viettel. Viettel recognizes its responsibility and is dedicating all resources to deploying 5G network infrastructure as widely as possible, which is the technological foundation to effectively serve the Government, businesses, and people in digital transformation," affirmed Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and CEO of Viettel Group.

It is expected that by the end of December 2025, the total number of 5G base stations will reach 30,000 Large base stations.
Technologically superior
Not only does Viettel's 5G network achieve extensive coverage, but it also boasts superior advantages in modern technology. Viettel is the only enterprise deploying a 5G SA (Standalone) network, a complete 5G network where all core network components and radio broadcasting equipment are 5G-enabled, capable of speeds up to 10 Gbps. In real-world usage, 5G speeds are 15 to 20 times faster than 4G.
Some "exclusive" applications of 5G SA include: Network slicing, which allows for the configuration of private networks for specific customer groups based on their needs, such as those requiring ultra-low latency; private networks with high security capabilities for national defense and security; telemedicine leveraging ultra-low latency (<1ms) and high reliability (99.9999%); and smart cities and smart factories connecting millions of IoT devices within a square kilometer to operate sensors, real-time monitoring, and automation.
Viettel has also integrated its self-researched and manufactured 5G ecosystem into a large-scale nationwide infrastructure, including 5G gNodeB base stations, 5GC core network systems, and vOCS 4.0 billing systems. This has contributed to exceeding the committed number of 5G base stations and affirmed the high-tech capabilities that Viettel has invested in research over the past many years.
