Participating in the center's program to introduce and promote Vietnamese agricultural products were 36 businesses operating in the production, processing, and export of agricultural products. With a total area of 250 m2 and designed in a modern, elegant, and professional style to optimize the visitor experience, the booths of Ho Chi Minh City businesses at Food Africa 2025 made a strong impression and attracted a large number of visitors, especially professional importers and distributors from Egypt, the Middle East, and Africa.
By participating in Food Africa 2025, businesses from Ho Chi Minh City hope to understand the needs and preferences of the Egyptian market, as well as strengthen connections, exchange information, and find partners.
In an interview with a VNA reporter in Cairo, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen, Director of Indochina Food Import-Export Co., Ltd., shared: "Through the Food Africa Cairo 2025 exhibition, we expect to find effective cooperative relationships to bring more and more agricultural products to the Egyptian market."
Products displayed at the Ho Chi Minh City business cluster received high praise for their quality, diversity, and competitiveness, especially those with great potential in the Egyptian market such as agricultural products (pepper, cashews, coffee, rice), dried fruits and bottled beverages, canned fish, etc. Mr. Esmail Kamal, Chairman of Rakiza Business and Trade Solutions Company (Egypt), highly appreciated the quality of Vietnamese rice products and expressed hope to find more products at Food Africa 2025 to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese businesses.
Ms. Ho Thi Quyen, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center, stated that Egypt is not only a large market but also a gateway to the Middle East and Africa. Therefore, Vietnamese agricultural products have many opportunities to export to these markets. According to her, Food Africa 2025 is an opportunity to find partners and expand export markets for Vietnamese agricultural products. Ms. Ho Thi Quyen assessed that Vietnamese agricultural products have already achieved a high quality standard and have expanded their export scope to increase competitiveness internationally. With products such as seafood, canned tuna, rice, coffee, and many other characteristic Vietnamese agricultural products, the Vietnamese booths attracted significant customer interest and received very high praise for their quality. She affirmed that the strong interest from partners shows that Vietnamese agricultural products have the full potential to penetrate deeply into the supply chain in Egypt and the region. This confirms Ho Chi Minh City's sound trade promotion strategy in selecting key markets and introducing flagship products that meet the needs and consumer preferences in Africa and the Middle East.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, Head of the Vietnamese Trade Office in Egypt, Vietnam has become a reliable partner, providing a stable supply of many agricultural products that Egypt has a great need for. Products such as coffee, pepper, cashews, coconut, and seafood are all strong export items for Vietnam in the Egyptian market. With a population of over 108 million people and attracting approximately 17-18 million international tourists annually, Egypt is a very large market for agricultural products and food. In addition, Egypt also needs to import large quantities of raw materials for livestock farming and food processing for export.
According to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam's exports of agricultural products, including seafood, fruits and vegetables, cashew nuts, coffee, and pepper, to Egypt reached approximately US$193 million in the first 11 months of 2025. However, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung noted that some other Vietnamese agricultural products such as tea and rice have not yet penetrated the Egyptian market, mainly due to price competition, but these are potential products with many opportunities in the Egyptian market.
Food Africa 2025 is one of the most important trade events for the agro-food industry in Africa and the Middle East. The event attracts over 1,100 exhibitors and major companies from dozens of countries across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. The diversity of product types and origins makes Food Africa 2025 a global trade fair, facilitating business communities in finding partners to boost import and export activities, distribution, and cross-continental supply chain connections.
Previously, on December 7th, the Vietnamese Embassy in Egypt, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center and the Egyptian Trade Authority, organized the Vietnam Business Forum in Cairo with the theme "Trade and Investment Opportunities within the Framework of the Vietnam-Egypt Comprehensive Partnership". The event was attended by representatives from 36 businesses from Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of participating in the Food Africa 2025 exhibition.
Speaking at the forum, Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Nguyen Nam Duong affirmed that upgrading Vietnam-Egypt relations to a Comprehensive Partnership reflects the determination of the leaders of both countries to develop economic and trade cooperation commensurate with its potential. Egypt is not only an important partner in North Africa but also a strategic gateway for Vietnamese goods to access the entire region. With a population of over 108 million people, Egypt is a promising market for Vietnamese agricultural products. According to the Ambassador, Egypt has made strong reform efforts to improve its investment and business environment, emphasizing that this is an opportunity that Vietnamese businesses need to proactively seize to increase market share and develop a sustainable market in Egypt. The Ambassador pledged to continue working alongside the business communities of both countries, maintaining networking programs, dialogues, and market consultations to transform the opportunities of the Comprehensive Partnership into concrete projects, contracts, and cooperation activities.
Also at the forum, Mr. Alaa El-Bially, Head of Investment Promotion at the Egyptian Trade Agency, introduced Egypt's investment attraction policies, including tax incentives for foreign investors, as well as investment opportunities in agriculture, food, logistics, green energy, tourism, industrial parks, free trade zones, and goods transit. Mr. El-Bially highly appreciated the capabilities of Vietnamese businesses in agriculture, fisheries, consumer goods, and industrial products – sectors with high demand in the Egyptian and regional markets.
