Highlights of the 2026 tourism season in Thai Nguyen province.

Thai Nguyen is a land rich in revolutionary traditions, with a strong cultural identity of various ethnic groups, lush green mountains and clear blue waters, and friendly, hospitable people. With the 2026 tourism season, Thai Nguyen will not only showcase its tourism potential to friends, attracting tourists and investors, but also demonstrate its aspiration for continuous progress.

Many diverse activities

The 2026 Thai Nguyen tourism season will feature a series of vibrant cultural and sporting activities taking place from May 9th to 17th, aiming to showcase the tourism potential and strengths of Thai Nguyen province to local people, domestic and international tourists.

Beginning on the evening of May 15th, the province organized the opening ceremony of the tourism season with the theme: "The Symphony of Lakes on the Mountains - Tea in the Clouds" at Vo Nguyen Giap Square, the provincial center, which brought joy, cheerful emotions, excitement, and confidence in the province's development to the people and tourists.

The program consists of three parts: "The Symphony of Lakes on the Mountains - Tea in the Clouds," "Sounds from the Capital of the Thousand Winds," and "The Epic of Thai Nguyen - A Land of Wonders," meticulously staged to offer locals and tourists a harmonious blend of light shows, musical theater, folk art, 3D mapping, drone light, and artistic fireworks... recreating the natural beauty, cultural identity, and historical traditions of the land and people of Thai Nguyen.

On this occasion, Thai Nguyen province received a certificate recognizing a Vietnamese record for a community bamboo pole dance performance involving 1,000 pairs of bamboo poles.

During this time, the expanded Thai Nguyen Jet Ski Show 2026 will take place at the Nui Coc Lake tourist area, featuring 20 Jet Ski vehicles and 20 rubber boats participating in performances of jet skiing, parasailing, flyboarding, and surfing, creating an attractive, modern, and emotionally rich sports and tourism experience on the picturesque lake.

The art program "Heritage Resounds Amidst the Vast Mountains of Ba Be" brings together the most outstanding performances by participating artists, artisans, and amateur actors, arranged and structured in a sequence that reflects folk traditions but is staged using a synthesis of various forms and styles of performance.

The "Footprints on the Green Lake" race was held in the Ba Be Lake area with the participation of over 700 people. The Gala Circus program had the theme "Colors of Childhood Amidst the Green Tea Region"; and the 2026 Thai Nguyen Province Tourism Promotion Video-Clip Contest "Journey to Discover Thai Nguyen" aimed at introducing and promoting the province's beautiful tourist destinations and famous tea-growing regions on digital platforms.

The 2026 Women's National Cup Football Tournament, held at the modern Thai Nguyen Stadium from May 13th to 27th, will bring together six strong women's football teams from Vietnam. The National U18 Athletics Championship and many other cultural and sporting events will also take place during this period.

The largest community bamboo pole dance performance in Vietnam, staged by Thai Nguyen province, has set a record for the largest in Vietnam with the participation of 1,000 pairs of bamboo poles.

The vibrant activities, bearing the distinctive mark of the province during the 2026 Thai Nguyen tourism season, aim to promote the image of a land and people rich in cultural identity, famous for its specialty tea region, unique natural landscapes, and friendly hospitality; and at the same time affirm Thai Nguyen tourism in the context of tourism development in the northern midland and mountainous region.

Abundant potential

Thai Nguyen is a land rich in historical, cultural, and revolutionary traditions. It is not only known for its "finest tea," but also possesses a rich tourism ecosystem with many outstanding potentials for developing ecotourism, resort tourism, cultural-historical tourism, and community tourism.

Mentioning Thai Nguyen brings to mind gently sloping green tea hills shrouded in early morning mist, ancient traditional craft villages, famous tea products, and unique cultural features—all of which contribute to the identity and appeal of this tea-producing region's tourism.

Nature has bestowed upon Thai Nguyen many beautiful and famous landmarks, such as Ba Be Lake - the largest natural freshwater lake in Vietnam, recognized by UNESCO as Vietnam's third Ramsar site; and the romantic Nui Coc Lake, associated with the legendary love story of Coc and Cong. In addition, there are hundreds of other lakes of varying sizes, a rich system of primeval forests, and numerous nature reserves.

Thai Nguyen also boasts many magnificent caves such as Phuong Hoang Cave - Mo Ga Stream, Hua Ma Cave, Puong Cave, etc., pristine streams and waterfalls, and characteristic agricultural areas such as the tea-growing regions of Tan Cuong, La Bang, Trai Cai, Khe Coc, Bang Phuc, and fruit-growing areas. These are favorable conditions for developing unique eco-tourism, resort, and experiential products.

Thai Nguyen is also a land that bears witness to many heroic historical events of the nation. Many historical sites have become attractive destinations for tourists – "red addresses" for educating about revolutionary traditions such as: the special national historical site of ATK Dinh Hoa - ATK Cho Don, the national historical site of July 27th, the memorial site of the Youth Volunteers of Company 915 who sacrificed their lives at Luu Xa station, the historical site of the victory at Deo Giang Pass, the Na Tu historical site, the birthplace of the four famous verses that President Ho Chi Minh dedicated to the Youth Volunteers… along with a system of historical sites, cultural institutions, museums, experiential destinations, and community tourism destinations rich in identity that are increasingly being invested in and developed.

According to Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, Duong Van Luong, in recent years, the province has always paid attention to leading and directing the development of tourism in a professional and sustainable direction, gradually making it an important economic sector. The province has issued tourism development plans, promoting the cultural values ​​and human strengths of Thai Nguyen for the period 2026-2030, aiming to preserve and effectively promote traditional cultural values ​​and tangible cultural heritage values ​​associated with tourism development; creating momentum to promote socio-economic development and improve the lives of the people.

The image of lakes nestled amidst vast forests, lush green tea hills, and distinctive cultural identity is the unique "Lake on the Mountain - Tea in the Clouds" symphony of Thai Nguyen province. Through this, the province hopes to attract more tourists to Thai Nguyen for unique experiences; strengthen linkages and connections between tour routes and other localities nationwide; and attract travel businesses and strategic investors to research and collaborate in creating attractive, high-class products, thereby contributing to the development of the tourism industry.
