On the afternoon of August 5, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (IUH) announced preliminary information on the number of applications for admission in 2025.

This year, the school received about 160,000 applications, double that of 2024. However, the school predicts that the admission scores for most majors may decrease by 0.5-1 points, while some "hot" majors will remain stable.

With the available data, it is predicted that the benchmark scores for law and some "hot" majors in the technology field such as computer engineering, automotive engineering technology, and mechatronics may remain the same or increase slightly.

The remaining majors are expected to decrease by 0.5-1 standard score because the 2025 high school graduation exam results in many subjects are lower than last year.

In the method of considering the results of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's capacity assessment exam and considering academic records, the standard score is likely to increase.

Through the score distribution, this year's results are higher than previous years. About 40% of the nearly 153,000 candidates who took the exam achieved a good score, or 700/1,200 points or more. The benchmark score from the transcript review has a similar trend, because the school has stopped giving priority to direct consideration to specialized students and switched to adding 1-3 points.

The number of candidates using foreign language certificates to convert into English scores also increased from 3,000 to 8,000. Most achieved IELTS 5.0 or higher.

Previously, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry announced the admission score (floor score) of 16-19 points according to the combination of 3 graduation exam subjects, a decrease of 1 point in all majors compared to last year.

If admission is based on the National University of Ho Chi Minh City's competency assessment test scores, the minimum score is 650/1200 for the general program and 600/1200 for the English-enhanced program.

For the law group, the minimum score is 720, including 180 or more in Vietnamese and math. If considering the transcript, candidates must achieve 21 points or more in three subjects.

At Quang Ngai branch, the floor scores for the two methods above are 600 and 19 respectively.

In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry will enroll students nationwide at its headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City and its Quang Ngai branch with a total target of more than 10,300 students for 64 undergraduate majors/specializations.

Last year, the school enrolled 8,000 students. The two majors with the highest admission scores were international business and economic law with 26 points, with many majors having admission scores of 24 points or more. The major with the lowest admission score was 18 points.

According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training , universities will start virtual filtering from August 17, lasting until August 20. University benchmark scores will be announced before 5:00 p.m. on August 22.
