On March 18, the DPA news agency quoted a source from the German cabinet as saying that Ms. Baerbock will continue to serve as Foreign Minister until the country forms a new government, expected to be announced on April 20. The Green Party did not participate in the coalition negotiations, so they cannot become a partner in this coalition.

DPA said that Ms. Baerbock's election was just a formality. After taking office, Ms. Baerbock will resign from her duties in the German Bundestag . Ms. Baercock is scheduled to present her campaign program in New York in May.
Berlin believes that this candidate will focus on Germany's strong commitment to UN principles.
