The ceremony was attended by the Director of Protocol and Director General of Political Affairs of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, many leaders of Austrian ministries, sectors and localities, ambassadors, chargé d'affaires, leaders of international organizations, the United Nations in Vienna, the Austrian business community, intellectuals, the Liaison Committee and the overseas Vietnamese community.
The ceremony began with a solemn flag-raising ceremony to the heroic and emotional singing of the national anthem by the Vietnamese-Austrian youth choir and documentary footage of Uncle Ho reading the text. Declaration of Independence September 2, 1945 and the 80-year journey of defending and building the Fatherland, innovation, integration and development, full of glory and pride of the Vietnamese people.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Vu Le Thai Hoang highlighted the historical significance of the 80th anniversary of Independence Day and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh , while conveying the widespread emotions of the Vietnamese people being proud of the past, happy with the present, confident and optimistic about the country's future in the era of growth.
The Ambassador expressed Vietnam's gratitude to all friends and partners who have united, supported and cooperated with Vietnam over the past 80 years; at the same time, he emphasized that Vietnam is determined to continue to innovate towards the two 100-year goals, consistently pursuing a foreign policy of peace , independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization, and being a proactive, active and responsible member of the international community and the United Nations.
Chief of Protocol Maximilian Hennig, authorized by Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, read a congratulatory letter on Vietnam's National Day to President Luong Cuong and the leaders and people of Vietnam, expressing the wish to continue to develop the relationship more deeply and substantially. Vietnam-Austria highly appreciates the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in Austria to the host country.
Deputy Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Executive Secretary General of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Organization (CTBTO), and representatives of other international and United Nations organizations in Vienna (IAEA, UNODC, UNCITRAL, UNOOSA, INTERPOL) reviewed the important cooperation results and contributions of Vietnam, highly appreciated the prestige and position of Vietnam in the international arena, and expressed their impressions of the glorious history, achievements, and remarkable socio-economic progress of the country in 40 years of renovation.
The ceremony was filled with colors, sounds and Vietnamese-Austrian culture with a combination of national anthem performances, traditional and modern costumes of the two countries by Vietnamese-origin designer La Hong, and the introduction of rich cuisine of spring rolls and pho (co-organized by the We Love Pho Association in Europe) combined with famous Austrian wine products.
